A total of 22 designs aspire to become the official image of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival 2027, which will be celebrated under the theme 'Music'. The Technical Committee will select six finalists on July 26.
The process to choose the image for the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival 2027 has entered its decisive phase. A total of 22 proposals have been submitted to the competition to design the promotional poster for an edition that will have the theme 'Music' and will take place between January 22 and February 28 next year.
The call, open to both professionals and amateurs, closed on July 22 with a slightly higher participation than the previous year: exactly one more proposal than in the 2026 edition, according to municipal sources.
The next step will take place on July 26, when a Technical Committee made up of people linked to the world of Carnival and experts in marketing, communication, and graphic arts will analyze all the applications. During the session, the authors will defend their works before the committee, which will assess aspects such as suitability to the theme, visual impact, ability to evoke emotion, and design versatility for adaptation to different promotional media.
After the evaluation, the Technical Committee will choose six finalist posters, which will be the stars of a special selection gala scheduled for August 7 at 21:30, at the rear exterior of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium.
The major novelty of the process is that the final decision will rest with the public. The event, which will have limited capacity and will be broadcast live by Televisión Canaria, will allow the audience to vote live for the proposal they consider most representative of the spirit of Carnival and the theme 'Music'.
With this participatory model, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria seeks to involve residents in the selection of the image that will promote one of the most important festivals in the capital of Gran Canaria. The winning poster will become the official presentation of the Carnival 2027 and will be used throughout the promotional campaign.
Those interested in attending the gala on August 7 should keep an eye on the information published by the City Council regarding the ticket reservation system, as capacity is limited. Those who cannot attend will be able to follow the live broadcast on Televisión Canaria and participate in the public voting.
