The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has opened the registration period to participate in the traditional maritime procession of the Virgen del Carmen, which will be held on July 16 in the Dársena de Anaga. There will also be a second procession in Valleseco on July 19.
The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has opened the registration period for the traditional maritime procession in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, which will take place next Thursday, July 16, in the Dársena de Anaga. Interested parties can submit their applications until the same day of the event, provided they meet the required criteria.
Additionally, the Port has organised a second procession along the coast of Valleseco, which will take place on July 19. Both events are part of the Fiestas del Carmen, the patron saint of sailors, which include a wide programme of activities.
How and where to register for the maritime procession
Registrations are done in person at the port offices, specifically at the helipad located at the Muelle de Enlace, under the Plaza de España. The opening hours are from 10:30 to 14:00, Monday to Friday.
It is also possible to download the application through the Port's website (www.puertosdetenerife.org/fiestas-del-carmen-2026), where all detailed information about the celebrations can be found. For inquiries, the phone number 609 522 855 has been set up.
Requirements to participate in the boat procession
Participants must present a photocopy of the current insurance policy of the vessel, the navigation certificate, and the duly completed registration form. Without these documents, participation in the procession will not be possible.
The Port Authority reminds that safety is a priority, so all vessels must comply with current regulations. Organisers recommend reviewing the documents in advance to avoid last-minute setbacks.
Programme of the Fiestas del Carmen at the Port
The Fiestas del Carmen in the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife include a commemorative programme that goes beyond the procession. According to the Port Authority, sports activities, recognitions to the Port Community, the traditional Brotherhood meal, and, as the main event, the embarkation and procession of the Sacred Image through the Dársena de Anaga will be held.
For the residents of the capital, this is a unique opportunity to participate in a centenary tradition that unites the maritime community. The Port encourages all citizens to join in, whether from their vessels or by following the event from the docks.
The Valleseco procession, for its part, has established itself as a parallel event that attracts numerous faithful and curious onlookers. Both celebrations promise to be an emotional tribute to the patron saint of sailors, with a festive and brotherly atmosphere.
Interested parties should note that the registration period is open until the day of each procession, although it is recommended to complete the process in advance to secure a spot. For more information, the Port's website can be consulted or the indicated phone number can be called.
