The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated a yellow alert for maximum temperatures in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for this Tuesday. The minimums will remain around 22 degrees, with light winds from the southeast.

A week of intense heat in the Tenerife capital

On Wednesday, the trend of clear skies will continue, with maximum temperatures of 32 degrees and minimums of 23. The thermal sensation will reach 31 degrees, and the wind will blow lightly from the north. By Thursday, the maximum will drop slightly to 29 degrees, although the sky will remain mostly clear with no precipitation.

The weekend will bring a change in weather: on Saturday, cloudy skies with light rain are expected, while on Sunday, there will be alternating cloudy intervals and light showers. Maximum temperatures will be 29 degrees on Saturday and 28 on Sunday, with minimums of 23 and 22 degrees respectively. The wind will be gentle from the north on Saturday and from the northeast on Sunday.

Recommendations for residents in the heat

In light of the yellow alert, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council recommends that the population avoid sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, stay hydrated frequently, and pay special attention to the elderly and children. They also remind the importance of not leaving anyone inside parked vehicles.

The alert will be active throughout Tuesday, so it is advised to plan outdoor activities during the cooler hours. Emergency services will remain alert for possible incidents related to high temperatures.

For the rest of the week, the trend is towards a slight moderation of the heat, although without significant fluctuations. Thursday will be the coolest day, with maximums of 29 degrees, and the weekend will bring rain, providing a respite from the dry conditions of recent days.

The data from AEMET, updated daily, is the official reference for the activation of alerts. Residents can check the weather evolution through the agency's website or its social media accounts.
