The central square of El Médano hosted a new edition of the gastronomic festival 'Sensations, Flavours of Summer', featuring numerous establishments and wineries from the region.
The central square of El Médano, in Granadilla de Abona, became the epicentre of flavour and tradition last Saturday with the celebration of a new edition of the gastronomic festival 'Sensations, Flavours of Summer'. The event, which started at 18:00 and lasted until 02:00 in the morning, brought together a wide representation of establishments from the municipality and wineries from the Denomination of Origin Abona and the Güímar Valley.
The event, organised by the Employment and Local Development Agency of the Granadilla de Abona City Council, directed by Carmen Delia Mesa Cabrera, received support from the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin of Abona and Sermugran. Throughout the evening, attendees were able to taste a varied selection of tapas, sweets, and wines made with local products, all accompanied by music from tribute acts to Adele and Fito, as well as the group 'Ni un Pelo de Tonto'.
The turnout was notable, and to facilitate access, the City Council provided a free bus service connecting Granadilla town and Los Abrigos with El Médano. This measure, highly appreciated by attendees, allowed residents from other areas of the municipality to enjoy the festival without worrying about transportation.
The municipal official, Carmen Delia Mesa Cabrera, wanted to thank "the great reception that 'Sensations' has with its unique format in each of its editions, the effort and collaboration of each of the establishments in the area that make this event a benchmark in the summer of the South of the island, in addition to contributing to energising the local economy and highlighting the quality of our products".
Participation was one of the pillars of success. In this edition, a total of 16 establishments offered their culinary proposals: Pastelería La Canela, Madre Mía, Bar Cafetería Asi, Bar Cafetería Villamar, Cafetería Mallorking, Stana Sushi y Poké, El Puentito, Victoria's, Gomeralia Catering, Salvaje La Tejita, Hamburguesería Perropilas, Virxen da Barca, Restaurante Pizzería Flaviano, Cocina Mamá, La Postrería, and Casa Manuela.
In the wine section, the wineries that contributed their wines were Frontos, La Vera, Cumbres de Abona, El Silencio, Mencey de Chasna, Bodega Arese, Bodega Reverón, Vera de la Fuente, Lagar de Chasna, Hermanos Mesa, Laja Blanca, Lacasmi, and the Comarcal Valley of Güímar Winery. A representation that highlights the enotourism richness of the region.
The initiative, which has established itself as one of the must-attend events of the summer in South Tenerife, aims to promote local products and energise the coastal economy. The combination of gastronomy, wine, and music in a privileged setting like El Médano has once again demonstrated its appeal among residents and visitors.
The success of this edition reinforces the Granadilla de Abona City Council's commitment to continue promoting events that support local commerce and showcase the quality of local products. The next 'Sensations' event is eagerly anticipated, and all signs point to it having a wide participation once again.
