The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has opened the second voluntary tax payment period for the 2026 fiscal calendar, which will be in effect until November 27. It includes IBI, IAE, and various municipal fees.

The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through the Tax Management Body of the Department of Presidency, Finance, Modernisation, Human Resources, and Water, has launched since July 24 the second voluntary tax payment period for the 2026 fiscal calendar. This period will extend until November 27, as reported by the City Council in an official statement.

During this period, taxpayers can pay without surcharge the Urban Property Tax (IBI) of urban nature, special characteristics, and rural nature, as well as the Tax on Economic Activities (IAE). This period also includes the fee for occupying public land and airspace with advertising installations, the fee for occupying public domain through ATMs, the second semester of the fee for occupying local public domain corresponding to flea market and fair stalls, and the second semester of the fee for occupying beaches with sunbeds and boats.

The Councillor for Presidency, Finance, Modernisation, Human Resources, and Water, Francisco Hernández Spínola, has highlighted that, for the second consecutive year, the City Council maintains the reduction of the IBI tax rate. This measure, according to Spínola, "reflects the government group's commitment to tax relief for families and to fairer taxation." The reduction of the IBI tax rate to 0.62% represents an average saving of 7.5% on bills compared to previous years.

For non-residential uses, the rate of 0.62% is also generally maintained. However, for the 10% of properties with the highest cadastral value, those valued over 75,000 euros, the rate of 0.67% is retained, in accordance with current regulations. Spínola emphasised that "complying with tax obligations within the voluntary period allows avoiding surcharges and contributes to continuing to provide quality public services to citizens."

Residents of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria can obtain the payment letter and make the payment of municipal taxes through various channels. The Virtual Tax Office, accessible on the City Council's website, allows downloading receipts and paying by card. The telephone service 010 (or 928 446 000 from outside the municipality) and kiosks installed in municipal offices are also available. Payment can be made at ATMs using the barcode on the receipt or in person at collaborating banks.

Additionally, the option for direct debit remains, allowing automatic charging of the receipt to the account. Applications for setting up or modifying direct debit can be made until September 17, 2026, through the Virtual Tax Office or in person at the Taxpayer Assistance Office, for which a prior appointment is necessary. The charging of direct debit receipts will take place on October 6, 2026.

On another note, since July 1, payment for the third quarter of the Fee for Occupation of Public Roads with Kiosks has been open, which will be available until September 30. The fourth quarter can be paid from October 1 to December 31, 2026.

The City Council recommends that taxpayers take advantage of the voluntary period to avoid surcharges and reminds that the reduction of the IBI represents economic relief for families. For any questions, citizens can contact the 010 service or consult the municipal website.
