The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria opens this Friday, 24th July, the second voluntary payment period for IBI and other taxes, which will extend until 27th November. The tax rate remains at 0.62%, which represents an average saving of 7.5%.
Property owners in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria have from this Friday, 24th July, until 27th November the opportunity to pay the Property Tax (IBI) and other municipal taxes without surcharges. The City Council has opened the second voluntary payment period of the 2026 fiscal calendar, which also includes the Economic Activities Tax (IAE) and various fees for occupying public domain.
Among the fees included in this period are those for occupying the public road with advertising installations, for ATMs, the second semester fee for market and fair stalls, and the fee for occupying beaches with sunbeds and boats. The City Council reminds that paying within the voluntary period avoids surcharges and helps finance municipal public services.
The councillor for Presidency, Finance, Modernisation, Human Resources and Water, Francisco Hernández Spínola, has highlighted that the Council maintains for the second consecutive year the reduction of the IBI tax rate, set at 0.62%. This measure, as explained by the councillor, represents an average saving of 7.5% on bills compared to previous years.
In the case of non-residential uses, the general rate is also 0.62%, although 10% of properties with a higher cadastral value —over 75,000 euros— maintains the rate of 0.67% established by current regulations.
Available payment channels
Taxpayers can obtain the payment letter and make the payment through the City Council's Virtual Tax Office, accessible from the municipal website. The telephone service 010 (or 928 446 000 for calls from outside the municipality) and kiosks set up in municipal offices are also available.
Another option is to pay at ATMs using the barcode on the bill, at collaborating banks, or through the Virtual Tax Office with a card. The City Council also maintains the possibility of direct debit, a method that allows for automatic payment.
Requests for registration or modification of direct debit can be submitted until 17th September 2026, either through the Virtual Tax Office or in person at the Taxpayer Assistance Office, with prior appointment. Direct debited bills will be charged to accounts on 6th October 2026.
The Council reminds that paying within the voluntary period is the most convenient way for citizens and avoids additional surcharges. For any questions, taxpayers can contact the taxpayer assistance service via telephone 010.
