The Yaiza Town Hall has opened the voluntary period for the payment of the Property Tax and the Economic Activities fee for 2026. Residents can pay until June 5 and benefit from discounts for early payment.
The Yaiza Town Hall has launched the collection campaign for the main municipal taxes for 2026. From this Monday, taxpayers in the southern municipality of Lanzarote can pay the Property Tax (IBI) and the Economic Activities Tax (IAE) during the voluntary period.
The deadline extends until June 5, 2026, as confirmed by the Town Hall through an official announcement. During these months, residents can make the payment without surcharges or interest, either in person at the municipal offices or electronically through the online platform.
Discounts for early payment and direct debit
One of the new features this year is the 5% discount for those taxpayers who set up direct debit for their bills and pay the tax before May 5. This measure aims to encourage bank direct debit and facilitate management for citizens, according to sources from the Finance department.
Additionally, those who choose to pay in instalments can request up to three instalments without interest, provided they formalise the request before April 5. The Town Hall reminds that this option is available for both IBI and IAE, and must be processed explicitly.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for our residents to meet their tax obligations, which is why we maintain the discounts and the instalment option,” said the Councillor for Finance, Óscar Noda.
How and where to pay
Receipts can be paid at the Town Hall collection offices, located at Libertad Street, number 1, in Yaiza, from 8:00 to 14:00, Monday to Friday. The online platform is also available at the municipal electronic headquarters (sede.yaiza.es), where the exact amount can be checked and the receipt downloaded.
For taxpayers who have questions about the calculation of the fee or discounts, the Town Hall has set up a helpline (928 83 60 11) and a prior appointment service for personalised assistance. The Town Hall recommends reviewing the cadastral data before paying to avoid errors.
Consequences of non-payment
If the receipt is not paid within the voluntary period, executive proceedings will be initiated with an additional surcharge of 5% to 20%, depending on the time elapsed, plus late interest. The Town Hall warns that non-payment may lead to the seizure of accounts or assets.
Last year, the Yaiza Town Hall collected more than 7.2 million euros in IBI, a figure it hopes to maintain or exceed in 2026. The Economic Activities Tax mainly affects businesses and freelancers in the municipality, who must declare their activity before April 30.
Residents can check the status of their receipts in the IBI Register, which is now available on the municipal website. For any issues, the Town Hall recommends visiting the Taxpayer Assistance Office during morning hours.
The deadline to request bank direct debit with the right to a discount ends on April 5. Interested parties must submit the corresponding form at the municipal registry or through the electronic headquarters.
