The National Police have arrested six men in various municipalities of Tenerife for alleged crimes of child corruption, distribution of child pornography and illegal possession of firearms.

The National Police have arrested six men in Tenerife, aged between 25 and 55, accused of child corruption, distribution of child sexual exploitation material and illegal possession of firearms. The operation, carried out during the months of February and March, culminated in six searches of homes in La Victoria de Acentejo, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

An investigation that began in February 2025

The investigation began in February 2025, when the Central Cybercrime Unit detected several users on the Island downloading and sharing child pornography via peer to peer networks. These networks allow for direct file sharing between devices without a central server, making them difficult to trace.

Specialised agents from the National Police in Tenerife managed to identify the suspects after a meticulous analysis of digital traces. According to sources from the investigation, the detainees used specific applications for downloading illegal files, and one of them had a history of similar offences.

Seven firearms and over 1,400 cartridges seized

During the searches, the agents were surprised to find: in one of the homes, they discovered seven firearms ready for use: five handguns and two long guns. Additionally, the same detainee stored more than 1,400 cartridges of various calibres, some of which were classified as war ammunition.

The illegal possession of firearms aggravates the situation of the arrested individuals, who already face prison sentences for the crimes of child corruption and distribution of child pornography. The investigators also seized numerous computers, high-capacity hard drives and mobile phones containing abundant illicit content.

The digital trail, key to the dismantling

The exhaustive forensic analysis carried out by the technological investigation specialists of the National Police has been crucial. The agents managed to recover hidden files and activity logs that linked each detainee to the downloads and distributions of paedophilic material.

For the residents of the affected municipalities, the news has caused shock.

"We could not imagine that something like this was happening here, in our neighbourhood," said a resident of La Laguna. The National Police recommends that citizens report any suspicious activity related to child exploitation via phone 091 or the official website.

The six detainees have been placed at the disposal of the judiciary and are charged with crimes of child corruption, distribution of child sexual exploitation material and illegal possession of firearms. The investigation remains open to determine if there are more individuals involved.
