The municipality of Gáldar has unveiled the comprehensive renovation of the children's playground in La Enconada, a project that had a budget of 30,000 euros and includes an adapted swing for children with reduced mobility.
The Gáldar City Council has put into service the renovated children's playground in La Enconada, a project that has completely transformed this play area to comply with current regulations and make it more accessible. The work, funded by a grant from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, has involved an investment of 30,000 euros.
The renovation was presented this Friday by the mayor of Gáldar, Teodoro Sosa, and the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Nicolás Mederos, accompanied by members of the governing group and numerous local residents. The execution has been carried out by the Urban Planning Department, led by Heriberto Reyes.
The works have involved the replacement of play equipment, which was deteriorated and outdated in relation to current requirements. In addition, the existing wooden slats have been refurbished, sanded, and varnished to extend their lifespan. As a new feature, a large central play structure has been installed, larger than the previous one, along with an adapted swing for children with reduced mobility.
With this intervention, the municipality now totals 21 renovated or newly opened children's parks during the current term. Mayor Teodoro Sosa has highlighted that "we continue to advance in our commitment to improve public spaces in all neighbourhoods of the municipality so that families have modern and safe facilities."
Sosa has reminded that in the past year improvements have been made in the parks of San Isidro, Saucillo, Alcaravaneras street in Barrial, La Montaña, and La Heladora. He also announced that the Marmolejos park is nearing completion and that work will soon begin in Caleta de Arriba, Becerril, and Caideros.
For his part, councillor Nicolás Mederos explained that "this action responds to the need to renew a park that had already shown significant wear due to the passage of time and continuous use." Mederos emphasized that since the beginning of the term, the parks of Los Quintana, Juan Aguiar Park in Sardina, Las Cumbrecillas, Barrial, Piso Firme, Cañada Honda, Marco Polo, El Agujero, La Furnia, La Punta, Palma de Rojas, Los Dos Roques, Granadilla de Abona, Taya, and Nido Cuervo have also been renovated.
The renewal of La Enconada reinforces the council's commitment to improving public facilities in all neighbourhoods. Local residents can now enjoy a safer, more modern, and inclusive space designed for the play of all children.
The Gáldar City Council continues with its plan to renovate children's parks, which has involved a cumulative investment of over 600,000 euros in recent years. The next actions will focus on Caleta de Arriba, Becerril, and Caideros, with the aim of ensuring that all neighbourhoods have adequate facilities.
The works have been well received by local families, who had been requesting an improvement of this space for some time. With this action, Gáldar takes another step towards creating a modern and accessible network of children's parks throughout the municipality.
