The Gran Canaria fairground closes the first six months of 2026 with over 156,000 visitors, in a year marked by its 60th anniversary and the start of a modernisation phase.
Infecar, Gran Canaria Fair, has closed the first half of 2026 with a record number of attendees: over 156,000 people participated in events organised directly by the venue and in the activities of the Gran Canaria Congress Palace. This balance comes in a special year, the 60th anniversary of the institution, which is also preparing an ambitious renovation of its facilities.
The Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Handicrafts, Minerva Alonso, highlighted that "almost 160,000 attendees enjoyed the first half of the year at Infecar, which has once again become a space for business exchange." Alonso also emphasised the effort to move part of the activity to the Agüimes Fairground to maintain the programme during the improvement works.
Ten fairs and 81,000 visitors in the own programme
Infecar organised a dozen of its own events that attracted 81,446 attendees and featured the participation of 475 exhibitors. A good part of these events were held outside the usual venue, in municipalities such as Agüimes, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Santa Lucía and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, thus expanding the territorial reach of the fair.
The calendar kicked off with the 31st Gran Canaria Crafts Fair San Telmo, which brought together 107 artisans from 17 municipalities and welcomed 8,000 visitors. This was followed by the Gran Canaria Crafts Fair Primavera Sur, in Maspalomas, with 10,500 attendees and 52 artisans.
In the business field, the first edition of the Canary Islands Logistics Innovation Fair (FILCA) debuted with 1,348 attendees and around fifty exhibiting companies. DigiON Canarias consolidated its role as a digital transformation meeting point, with 863 professionals and 49 tech companies. Canarias Comunica, a forum on communication, also took place, gathering 171 specialists.
Sustainable mobility and local products, major attractions
Sustainability was one of the key themes of the season. Movelec, the Electric Vehicle Show of the Canary Islands, recorded 2,489 visitors, the best figure in the last five years. The Global Summit of Sustainable Islands (GSIS) brought together over 400 international experts to discuss the challenges faced by island territories.
Local products also proved to be a draw. The Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair received 11,736 visitors, while Fisaldo, the Opportunities Fair, attracted 23,866 attendees. Both were held at the Agüimes Fairground, allowing activities to continue during the works at Infecar.
Meanwhile, Fimar, the International Sea Fair, once again turned the Sanapú dock into a hub of the blue economy, with 15,273 visitors and 61 exhibitors. The School and Family Festival La Isla de Mi Vida mobilised over 1,200 participants, and the namesake festival in Plaza de Santa Ana, on the occasion of the Day of the Canary Islands, gathered around 6,000 people for the premiere of Attindamana, a production featuring over 500 artists.
Congress Palace: 36 events and 76,860 attendees
The Gran Canaria Congress Palace hosted 36 external events during the semester, with 76,860 attendees. Among the most notable events were The Champions Burger, with 60,000 visitors, and the World Rock Music, which gathered 4,000 people. Business meetings, training days, and the International Cheese Forum were also held, enhancing the island's international profile.
This activity coincides with the 32nd anniversary of the Congress Palace, inaugurated on July 3, 1994. The facility has established itself as a benchmark for congresses and conventions in the Canary Islands.
For the residents of Gran Canaria, this intense fair activity translates into a varied offer of leisure, training, and business opportunities throughout the year. Upcoming events planned for the second half include new editions of trade fairs and cultural events, which will be announced soon on the Infecar website.
