The National Police have arrested a second man for the robbery at the José Luis jewellery store in El Mirador Shopping Centre, which occurred last Tuesday. The suspect was located on Thursday night following investigations by the Judicial Police Group.

The arrest took place on Thursday night, July 9, after agents from the Judicial Police Group of the South District Police Station carried out various investigative actions that allowed them to locate and apprehend this individual.
The robbery occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 7, when several hooded individuals entered the establishment and, using a fire extinguisher and blunt objects, smashed several display cases to steal jewellery of various values. During the assault, the jewellery store employees managed to leave the premises unharmed, while the robbers fled in a vehicle that had been stolen in the Ojos de Garza area.
The vehicle used in the getaway, key to the investigation
The car used by the robbers was located shortly afterwards by the agents involved in the operation deployed after receiving the alert. Inside the vehicle, items related to the robbery were found, such as jewellery tags, a display case, the fire extinguisher used in the assault, and other objects of interest for the investigation.
According to sources from the National Police, these clues have been crucial in identifying the alleged perpetrators. So far, two individuals have been arrested as suspected authors of a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation, although the investigation remains open to fully clarify the events and locate the rest of those involved.

The incident has raised concerns among merchants at El Mirador Shopping Centre and its surroundings, a busy area of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
