Thousands enjoyed the Telde Rock Fest in Lomo Cementerio this Saturday, a debut that exceeded all expectations and solidifies the municipality as a new epicentre of rock in Gran Canaria.
The Telde Rock Fest concluded its first edition with a resounding success in attendance. Over ten hours of live music, parallel activities, and impeccable organisation turned the surroundings of Lomo Cementerio into the main meeting point for rock in Gran Canaria. The response from attendees, who came from various parts of the island, surpassed even the most optimistic forecasts.
From the early afternoon, the venue recorded a steady influx. Access was smooth, and the distribution of spaces allowed everyone to enjoy each concert without overcrowding. Punctuality in the start of performances was one of the aspects most appreciated by the audience, as several attendees consulted by this newspaper agreed.
A Tribute Line-up That Captivated the Audience
The line-up featured six top national tribute bands. Tribu G, performing the greatest hits of Hombres G, kicked things off and got the crowd fired up. They were followed by La Boina de Fito, AC/TB (a tribute to AC/DC), Minoría Absoluta (Extremoduro), La Suerte de mi Vida (El Canto del Loco), and Los Lola. Each group kept the energy high, and the audience sang and danced non-stop.
Between concerts, DJs and speakers Antonio Boada and Nacho González kept the atmosphere lively. The music didn’t stop throughout the day, and the mix of genres within rock ensured there were offerings for all tastes, from classic rock to punk and pop rock.
More Than Music: Food Trucks, Tattoos, and Biker Culture
The Telde Rock Fest was not limited to concerts. The food truck area offered a varied culinary selection, while the tattoo space and barbershop attracted many curious visitors. The motorcycle exhibition and activities linked to biker culture reinforced the event's identity and expanded the attendees' experience, creating a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.
The organisation received praise for the logistics and security of the venue. Attendees highlighted the convenience of moving between different areas and the sense of safety at all times. The good atmosphere was the dominant note, and many repeated that they would return next year.
A Success That Guarantees the Festival's Continuity
The extraordinary response to this first edition positions the Telde Rock Fest as one of the new musical references of the summer in Gran Canaria. The organisation, led by the City Council of Telde and several local businesses, is very positive about the outcome and is already working on future editions. The demand for tickets, which sold out days before the event, demonstrates significant public support for such an initiative in the municipality.
For the residents of Telde, the festival represents a cultural and economic boost in the middle of summer. Local shops and hospitality businesses noticed an increase in customers during the day, and the event has put Lomo Cementerio on the map of major concerts on the island. The next edition, if things continue this way, promises to be even more ambitious.
The Telde Rock Fest has proven that rock has a loyal and numerous audience in the Canary Islands. And that, with good organisation, any municipality can become the stage for a great festival. The date is set for next summer.
