The Municipal Pavilion of Teguise hosted the I 3x3 Teguise 2026 Tournament this weekend, featuring players from across the island and inclusive categories, U17 and mixed senior.
The 3x3 basketball scene had its first major event in Teguise over the past weekend. The Municipal Pavilion of the town hosted the I 3x3 Teguise 2026 Tournament, an event that, despite the intense heat and coinciding with local festivities, managed to gather dozens of players and fans from Lanzarote. The event, organised by canarias3x3.com, turned into a true celebration of the sport, with competitions running from Saturday morning until midday on Sunday.
Saturday's activities began with the true stars: the inclusive basketball players. They were the first to take to the court, enjoying the Teguise floor and providing moments of excitement for their families and attendees. In the afternoon, the U17 category took over, with the 'Puerto del Arrecife' team claiming the championship title in this category, showcasing the high level of local talent.
Sunday was the main day for the senior categories. The competition extended well into the afternoon, with intense matches and a great atmosphere in the stands. The 'Full Sazón' team was crowned tournament champions in the senior category, followed by 'Puerto del Arrecife' in second place and 'Mañana Libro' in third. Additionally, the trophy for the best mixed senior team went to 'Ariagona Summer', noted for their combined play.
The Sports Councillor of the Teguise Town Hall, Alejandro Ramírez Doblado, was responsible for presenting the trophies to the champions and runners-up. During the ceremony, he apologised for the absence of the mayor, Olivia Duque, due to personal reasons, and congratulated the organisers for the event's success. 'It has been two weekends of basketball in the municipality of Teguise that has shown its support for an Olympic sport, 3x3 basketball. I congratulate the participants, especially the inclusive basketball players, who enjoyed Saturday in the Villa and delighted all the family members who accompanied them. 3x3 has arrived in Teguise and Costa Teguise to stay,' declared the councillor.
From the organisation, canarias3x3.com, they expressed their gratitude to the Teguise Town Hall and, in particular, to the Sports Department, for their strong commitment to 3x3 basketball in the municipality. 'An Olympic sport that continues to grow without brakes among basketball lovers,' they stated in a press release. They also extended their thanks to the Canary Basketball Federation, the referees, and the table staff, as well as to the sponsors Ariagona and Roscachapas, who collaborated in the tournament's execution.
The attending public and participants from all categories — U17, senior male and female, and inclusive — enjoyed a weekend of basketball in the former capital of Lanzarote, consolidating Teguise as a new reference for this sport on the island.
The next summer event from canarias3x3.com already has a date and location. It will be the II 3x3 City of Arrecife Tournament, Memorial Marcial Martín Rodríguez, which will take place on the weekend of August 8 and 9 at the Argana Sports Palace, as part of the San Ginés Festivities.
