The La Laguna City Council has begun the works to improve Gandhi Avenue, which include the construction of a roundabout and the enhancement of the road surface. The works, estimated to last a month, aim to optimise road safety in the industrial estate of Los Majuelos.
The Department of Works, Infrastructure and Accessibility of the La Laguna City Council has launched this week the works for the adaptation, improvement and resurfacing of Gandhi Avenue. The works, which will last approximately a month, are part of the rehabilitation project for the industrial estate of Los Majuelos, one of the main industrial areas in the municipality.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, explained that the most notable action is the construction of a roundabout at the intersection with El Paso Avenue. The aim, as he detailed, is to optimise the regulation and distribution of traffic, especially for large vehicles such as trucks and delivery vans, which are common in the area.
“This new roundabout will allow us to increase the operational capacity of the junction and reinforce the road safety conditions in the surroundings, significantly reducing conflict points and improving the overall flow of this road,” the mayor stated.
For his part, the La Laguna councillor for Works, Ángel Chinea, detailed that the previous asphalt layer and other intermediate materials have already been removed to prepare the area. In addition to the roundabout, the works include improving the road surface and renewing underground sanitation and water supply infrastructures.
Chinea also mentioned that several multiple electric parking spaces that were established at this point in the municipality will be improved. These parking spaces for electric vehicles will benefit from the works, although he did not specify the exact scope of the improvements.
