The La Laguna City Council has set July 31 for the selective tests to fill 61 civil servant positions. More than 6,500 people have registered for a process that includes internal promotion and open competition.
On July 31, the Tenerife Fairgrounds will host the exams for the 61 civil servant positions called by the La Laguna City Council. This was announced on Friday by the Department of Presidency and Planning, which published the call in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, has emphasised that more than 6,500 people have signed up for this selective process, reflecting the high interest in securing a position in local administration. “The City Council had not held public selective processes for career civil servants for over 20 years,” the mayor recalled, highlighting that the call aims to fill vacant positions ahead of upcoming retirements.
The tests will be held in four shifts. The exam for administrative assistant (Group C, subgroup C2) will start at 8:00; at 11:00, for administrative (Group C, subgroup C1); at 14:30, for management technician (Group A, subgroup A2); and at 17:30, for General Administration technician (Group A, subgroup A1).
The councillor for Presidency, Carla Cabrera, detailed that the exams will be supervised by police officers to ensure the security, neutrality, and transparency of the procedure. “We have worked intensively from the Human Resources Area to make this call a reality,” Cabrera stated, wishing good luck to all candidates.
Of the 61 positions offered, 13 correspond to internal promotion to fill positions in Group C1 (administrative). The remaining 48 will be filled through open competition: 8 positions for General Administration technician (A1), 5 for management technician (A2), 6 for administrative (C1), and 29 for administrative assistant (C2).
The La Laguna City Council has emphasised that this process marks a milestone, as no call of this kind has been made for over two decades. The initiative responds to the need to renew the municipal workforce in light of the upcoming generational change, with numerous civil servants nearing retirement.
Candidates must attend the Tenerife Fairgrounds with the necessary materials and documentation to verify their identity. It is recommended to arrive early enough to avoid setbacks, given the high number of expected participants.
