The Permanent Commission of the Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna met this Friday to plan the activities for the coming months. Among the events are the IV 'Wednesday with Coffee' Day and LagunIA 2026.
The Permanent Commission of the Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna (FES) held a working meeting this Friday in which the roadmap for the second half of 2026 was established. The meeting, which took place in the morning, served to follow up on the agreements from the II Plenary of the Forum, held on June 24, and to coordinate the planned activities until the end of the year.
Among the most notable initiatives is the IV FES 2026 'Wednesday with Coffee' Day, which will take place on August 12 in the Plaza del Hermano Ramón. The Forum is also expected to participate in the State Meeting on Planning and Management of Migrations, which will be held in Arrecife (Lanzarote) on September 9 and 10.
In the area of mobility, the FES will organize, together with the Mobility Area of the La Laguna City Council, a specific day during the month of September. Additionally, on November 19, LagunIA 2026 will be held at the Espacio Mutua Tinerfeña, an event focused on artificial intelligence and its application in the municipality.
The Permanent Commission also addressed the process of renewing the Forum for the next term, which is progressing according to the planned schedule. The completion of the process is expected to take place between late November and early December. Furthermore, new social and educational initiatives will be promoted, such as a tribute to Adolfo Cabrera Pinto and the continuation of financial education workshops aimed at social groups in the municipality.
In collaboration with the University of La Laguna, the Forum will develop several research projects during the second half of the year. Among them is the Barometer of La Laguna 2026, a tool to understand citizens' perceptions of social, economic, and municipal realities. The Festive Atlas of the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna will also be prepared, documenting the festive heritage of La Laguna, and a study on the economic impact of tourist spending in the historic centre, which will quantify the impact of tourism on commerce and hospitality in the historic centre.
During the meeting, the high degree of compliance with the annual programme and the coordination between the Forum and the La Laguna City Council was highlighted. This collaboration allows for a stable and diverse programme, reinforcing the role of the FES as a space for citizen participation.
The Permanent Commission thanked all the individuals and institutions that make up the Forum, who altruistically contribute to the economic and social development of the municipality. The next meeting of the Permanent Commission is scheduled for September 4, where progress will continue on the organization of activities for the last quarter.
