The international nautical competition, held until July 25 at Marina Rubicón, combines elite sports with social activities to showcase the island's landscapes and culture.
The Marina Rubicón 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week, taking place from July 20 to 25 in Lanzarote, has not only been the scene of intense races but also of a social programme that has allowed sailors and owners to discover the island's most iconic attractions. The initiative, driven by the championship's organisation, aims for participants to experience a comprehensive journey beyond the sporting competition.
Two events have marked the social agenda of this week. The first was the traditional Crew Party, held on Wednesday at Marina Rubicón, in collaboration with Primario Gastrobar and Magic Chapel. There, sailors, technicians, and members of the organisation shared a relaxed evening after the competition days, strengthening the bonds between teams in the marina, one of the benchmarks of nautical activities in the Canary Islands.
The second gathering, the Owners Party, brought together the boat owners in a unique setting: La Geria. This area, known for its volcanic landscape and vineyards, offered owners a unique opportunity to delve into Lanzarote's natural, scenic, and gastronomic heritage. The visit highlighted the close relationship between the territory, viticulture, and the island's identity, showcasing to attendees some of the elements that have made Lanzarote an internationally recognised destination.
These activities are part of a complementary programme to the sporting competition, designed for participants to take away a complete impression of the host destination. The 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week brings together some of the best teams and sailors in the world in Lanzarote, and is sponsored by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, through SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote and its sports tourism product "Lanzarote Sports Destination", its Planning and Project Coordination Area, and the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), the Island Sports Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, and the Economic Promotion Area, along with the Yaiza City Council and Promotur Turismo de Islas Canarias.
The combination of elite sports and tourism promotion strengthens the bond between the championship and the island, positioning Lanzarote as an ideal destination for nautical and sports tourism. Sailors and owners from different countries have thus had the opportunity to discover the island's charms beyond the competition.
The competition on the water continues until Saturday, July 25, when the winner of this stage of the 52 SUPER SERIES will be announced. Meanwhile, the organisation continues its commitment to offering a unique experience that integrates sport, nature, and culture.
