Brenda and Ingrid Roger renew and will be in their ninth consecutive season with Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote, completing a squad of 16 players that combines continuity and eight reinforcements for the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola.
The sisters Brenda and Ingrid Roger will wear the Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote jersey for another season. The club confirmed on Wednesday the renewal of both players, meaning the squad for the 2026/2027 season is now complete. The team, managed by Sergio Hernández, will face its ninth consecutive campaign in the top tier of Spanish women's handball.
A core of continuity with eight new faces
The core of the team remains intact with the renewals of Alicia Robles, Claudia Kaulback, Gleinys Reyes, Yasmin Fernández, Luna Voncina, and Tatty Masseu, in addition to Brenda and Ingrid Roger themselves. This group secured their place in the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola after a brilliant survival phase last season.
To this core, eight reinforcements have been added: pivot Maria Monllor, centres Cecilia Colmenero and Malena Guerisoli, French winger Zaliata Mlamali, first lines Marília Correia, Thalyta Cardoso, and Queralt Fornt, and international Uruguayan goalkeeper Paola Santos. The sports management has sought complementary profiles to provide greater depth to the team.
The leadership of the Roger sisters on and off the court
Brenda Roger is the all-time top scorer of the club in national categories, while Ingrid, the team captain, is a defensive reference. Both were recently recognised at the III Gala Mujer y Deporte Canario organised by Charter100. Their continuity brings experience and commitment to a dressing room that mixes youth and veteran presence.
Coach Sergio Hernández faces his first season in charge of the Lanzarote team. He is joined by Joaquín Barreto as physical trainer and re-adaptor, Eduardo Borges as goalkeeper coach, Samuel Naranjo as doctor, and Miguel Carús as physiotherapist.
Preseason schedule and league start
The squad will begin training on 27 July. The first preseason matches will take place on the weekend of 14, 15, and 16 August. The official competition will kick off on 9 September with a visit to Elda Prestigio, the first league commitment of the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola.
For Lanzarote fans, this news guarantees seeing their key players for another season. The club has managed to maintain the core that excited during the survival phase and has reinforced it with young talent and international experience. The preseason will be crucial for the team to be in the best condition for the start of the league, where the goal will be to establish themselves among the elite.
