The Civil Guard has dismantled in Corralejo an active drug selling point known as 'the supermarket', which operated 24 hours in a wooden shed and distributed narcotics via electric scooter in leisure areas. Two young men have been arrested.

The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura has dealt a blow to street dealing in the north of the island with two simultaneous operations in recent days. The most notable resulted in the dismantling of a crack selling point in Corralejo that functioned as a drug 'supermarket', with 24-hour shifts and home delivery via electric scooter.

Officers from the Main Post of Corralejo began the investigation after receiving several reports indicating a rudimentary wooden shed in an isolated and abandoned area. Surveillance confirmed a constant flow of regular consumers, leading investigators to name the operation 'supermarket'.

Two arrested and a shed with a 'reception area'

The selling point was run by two young locals who took turns to maintain uninterrupted activity. The shed, appearing precarious, was divided into two rooms: a reception area for clients and an interior space dedicated to the storage, preparation, and 'cooking' of crack.

At the time of the raid, officers arrested on-site the first operator and, hours later, the second implicated individual. Both have been brought before the courts accused of a crime against public health.

According to sources from the investigation, the detainees did not limit themselves to sales at the fixed point. They also distributed drugs on demand via phone in the leisure areas of Corralejo, using electric scooters to evade police surveillance.

Seized items: drugs, pharmaceuticals, and 300 grams of bicarbonate

The search of the shed allowed for the seizure of a significant batch of substances and materials. Among the seized items were 13 doses of crack, 3 grams of rock cocaine, 48 grams of hashish in a single piece, 24 grams of marijuana divided into eight packages, and a marijuana cigarette ready for sale.

Additionally, officers found 53 Diazepam tablets (10 mg), 49 Alprazolam (Tranquimazin) pills, and 300 grams of bicarbonate, used to adulterate drugs. They also seized an electric stove, preparation spoons, three precision digital scales, and the three electric scooters used in the commission of the crime. The cash seized amounted to 110 euros in coins and notes.

For the residents of Corralejo, the news comes as a relief, as the selling point was located in an area frequented by tourists and locals. The swift action of the Civil Guard has prevented the criminal activity from spreading further.

Second operation in Tindaya: a 68-year-old man arrested

Simultaneously, the Investigation Area of the Civil Guard in Corralejo had been conducting another line of investigation in the locality of Tindaya for a month. There, an unusual flow of people linked to drug use had been detected at a private residence.

The main target was a 68-year-old man, who allegedly took advantage of his advanced age and his profile as a well-known neighbour to go unnoticed by security forces. After the appropriate surveillance, officers proceeded to arrest him as a suspected perpetrator of a crime against public health.

With these two operations, the Civil Guard of Fuerteventura reinforces its presence in the north of the island, an area with high tourist influx where street dealing seeks to camouflage itself among commercial and leisure activities. Investigations remain open to determine if there are more individuals or selling points linked to those now arrested.
