The Totem Dojo club, a reference in Fuerteventura, launches a summer camp at the Tefía hostel to combat bullying through sports and emotional education.

The majorero club Totem Dojo has launched a summer camp at the Tefía hostel in Fuerteventura, aimed at reinforcing self-esteem and a sense of belonging among minors in the face of bullying. The initiative, which will take place from August 10 to 16, combines outdoor activities with educational sessions based on the club's methodology.

As explained by Totem Dojo's manager, Lorenzo, in statements to Radio Insular, many children arrive at the gym with difficulties in relating and expressing their emotions. Through sports, they find a space to develop discipline, responsibility, and confidence, values that the camp aims to enhance.

Sport without violence

Lorenzo emphasised that the camp will not teach fighting. The contact dynamics will focus on self-control and frustration management, without fights between participants. The goal is for minors to understand that strength lies not in aggression, but in the ability to act with security and respect.

The programme includes excursions, treasure hunts, crafts, and outdoor activities, combined with personal development sessions. The aim is for children to acquire habits such as empathy, perseverance, and respect, key tools for preventing bullying.

Open to all profiles

The camp is open to both minors who feel vulnerable and those who may witness situations of abuse. The intention is to reinforce the confidence of some and encourage group involvement to avoid normalising exclusionary behaviours.

Places are limited to between 25 and 30 participants to ensure close monitoring. There is an option to attend with or without overnight stay, adapting to the needs of families. Registrations are already open via the club's phone number or its social media.

A reference in the fight against bullying

This camp comes at a sweet moment for Totem Dojo. Lorenzo has just returned from the Spanish Championship after leading the Canary Islands team, although he downplays his role and highlights the work of the Canary clubs. For the children of Fuerteventura, this initiative represents a unique opportunity to grow in a safe and educational environment.

Sport offers an environment where one can learn to coexist, take on responsibilities, and face difficulties through effort and perseverance, says Lorenzo.

Those interested can obtain more information on Totem Dojo's social media or by calling the designated phone number. Places are filling up fast, so it's advisable to hurry if you want to secure a spot for the little ones.
