The City Council of Puerto del Rosario has launched Galia, a technological system that digitises the management of the sewage network. The tool allows real-time monitoring of 121 kilometres of pipes and over 9,000 manholes.
The City Council of Puerto del Rosario presented the Galia platform on Monday, a technological system that is already operational and promises to change the way the municipality's sewage network is managed. The tool, developed by Canaragua, digitises all processes of maintenance, inspection, and monitoring of hydraulic infrastructures.
The Councillor for Municipal Services, David de León, explained that Galia allows for constant awareness of the network's status, planning actions with technical criteria, and maintaining a complete record of all interventions. "This allows us to anticipate many incidents before they occur and organise maintenance much more efficiently," he stated.
A 121-kilometre network under digital control
Galia will manage a highly complex infrastructure: 121 kilometres of sewage network, 22 pumping stations (EBAR), and over 9,000 manholes distributed throughout the municipality. The platform incorporates dynamic maps, work order control, and automatic report generation.
Additionally, the tool includes algorithms capable of analysing historical information and needs detected during inspections to identify the most sensitive points of the network and recommend the optimal maintenance frequency. This represents a qualitative leap from the previous system, which was based on paper and telephone communications.
Technology at the service of municipal management
On behalf of Canaragua, Natividad Marcial highlighted that Galia puts "technology at the service of municipal management." All information generated in daily work is integrated into a single platform, allowing for future-oriented maintenance planning and optimisation of available resources.
Among Galia's functionalities are inspections using poles, CCTV cameras, or visual reviews, capturing photographs and videos, georeferencing new elements, and permanent updates of the geographic information system (GIS).
For the residents of Puerto del Rosario, this digitisation translates into fewer blockages, breakdowns, and spills. The platform enables municipal technicians to anticipate incidents before they affect public roads or homes. The City Council expects the tool to reduce response times to emergencies and improve service efficiency.
The launch of Galia is part of the modernisation plan for public services in the municipality, which also includes the digitisation of other services such as waste collection and public lighting. The next step will be to extend the platform to the management of the integral water cycle, including the supply network.
