Fuertevida Parkinson No Limit and the Fuerteventura Association of Families with Alzheimer’s (AFFA) have achieved the highest score in the transparency evaluation by the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands, and will receive a diploma this Thursday at the Real Casino in Tenerife.
Two associations from Fuerteventura have achieved a perfect score in the transparency assessment conducted by the Commissioner for Transparency and Access to Public Information of the Canary Islands. Fuertevida Parkinson No Limit and the Fuerteventura Association of Families with Alzheimer’s (AFFA) will receive a recognition diploma this Thursday, July 23, during the ceremony for the Excellence Awards for Digital Transparency in the Canary Islands, which will take place at the Real Casino in Tenerife.
Both majorera entities received a score of 10, the highest possible, in the evaluation for the year 2024. This result places them among the most transparent organizations in the archipelago, according to the evaluating body. The award highlights these associations' commitment to the ethical and clear management of their resources, as emphasized by the entities themselves.
The president of Fuertevida Parkinson No Limit, Loris Plugiese, and the project coordinator, Francesca de Bartolomeis, expressed their satisfaction with the recognition. "This recognition fills us with pride and drives us to continue working with even more strength. It shows our partners, volunteers, donors, and the entire majorera society that we manage every resource with the utmost honesty and institutional rigor," they stated. Both emphasized that transparency is not merely a formality, but a "moral duty" towards those who trust in their work to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s.

Fuertevida Parkinson No Limit is a non-profit organization that was founded in Fuerteventura with the aim of supporting, informing, and accompanying Parkinson’s patients and their families or caregivers. Its philosophy "No Limit" translates into daily work to break down physical and social barriers associated with the disease. They offer comprehensive therapies, psychological support, rehabilitation, and awareness activities. Recently, several of their representatives participated in the World Parkinson Congress held in Phoenix (Arizona), where they presented studies on their therapeutic programs.
On the other hand, the manager of AFFA, Teresa Cabrera, attributed the top score to the "teamwork" of the association's members. "A score of 10 in transparency reflects AFFA’s commitment to good governance, ethics, and openness towards society," she explained. Cabrera emphasized that it is not just about accumulating data, but about demonstrating that the management of the entity is "completely visible and understandable to anyone." "We are very satisfied," she concluded.

AFFA, the Association of Families in Fuerteventura living with Alzheimer’s, was founded in 2019 by affected families in response to the lack of specific resources on the island. Since then, it has expanded its activities across the island, providing care for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, as well as psychological support, social accompaniment, and support groups for families and caregivers.
The award ceremony for the Excellence Awards for Digital Transparency in the Canary Islands will take place this Thursday, July 23, at the Real Casino in Tenerife, where the two majorera associations will receive the diploma certifying their score of 10 in transparency. This recognition adds to the achievements of both entities, which continue to work to improve the lives of the groups they serve.
