The Arucas Town Council is organising 'A Summer of Cinema' with six free screenings on El Puertillo beach throughout August. The programme kicks off on August 7 with 'How to Train Your Dragon' and concludes on the 22nd with 'E.T.'.
El Puertillo beach in Arucas will transform into an open-air cinema for four weekends in August. The Town Council has scheduled six free movies that will start on Friday, August 7 at 21:30 hours. This initiative, promoted by the Department of Culture, aims to provide quality leisure in a unique natural setting.
The cycle combines family-friendly titles with classic films. The first session on Friday, the 7th, will screen 'How to Train Your Dragon' (2025), a recent animated adventure. The following day, Saturday the 8th, the fantasy comedy 'Night at the Museum' (2006) will be shown, perfect for group enjoyment.
Classics and Premieres on the Sand
The second week will bring two very different titles. On Friday, August 14, 'Jaws' (1975), the classic by Steven Spielberg, will be screened, ironically inviting viewers to respect the sea right from the shore. On Saturday the 15th, the quintessential superhero will land on screen with 'Superman' (2025), a recent premiere promising action.
The grand finale will arrive on the last weekend. On Friday, August 21, 'Furiosa: from the Mad Max saga' (2024), a post-apocalyptic action film, will be shown. And on Saturday the 22nd, to close with tenderness, 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial' (1982), an unforgettable classic that will delight both young and old, will be screened.
Outdoor Culture by the Sea
The Department of Culture, according to municipal sources, is committed to taking cultural programming outside conventional spaces. With this initiative, the use of public spaces is encouraged, offering quality leisure alternatives during the summer. Additionally, it aims for the seventh art to be a meeting point in harmony with the environment, in one of the jewels of the municipality: the Arucas coast.
Residents of Arucas and visitors can bring their own blankets or chairs, although the Town Council recommends arriving early to find a good spot on the sand. All screenings begin at 21:30 hours, when the sun has already set and the sea breeze refreshes the atmosphere. An unmissable event for cinema lovers looking to enjoy summer in a different way.
