The club strengthens its commitment to Canarian talent with two young players of international potential. Martha Padrón and Marbelys Reyes will train with the first team in the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola.

Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote has announced the signing of two young talents from Canarian handball: Martha Padrón, 16 years old and from CB Puerto del Carmen, and Marbelys Reyes, 17 years old and from Balonmano Morro Jable. Both will integrate into the first team dynamics during the 2026/2027 season, training under coach Sergio Hernández.

Two gems of grassroots handball

Martha Padrón Olsson, born on April 14, 2010, is a 1.79 meters tall back player who already has 20 international caps with the Spanish Promesas national team. With the national team, she won a silver medal at the 2025 Mediterranean Championship, and with CB Puerto del Carmen, she was the runner-up in the Spanish club championship. “This is a very important step to continue growing as a player and learning from teammates with a lot of experience,” Padrón stated.

Meanwhile, Marbelys Reyes Gómez, born on July 4, 2009, arrives after a brilliant season in the Women's Silver Honor Division with Balonmano Morro Jable. Despite being a first-year youth player, she was the top scorer in the category with 213 goals. “I approach this new stage with great excitement and a desire to show that I can make the most of this opportunity,” Reyes assured.

Commitment to youth and potential

Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote thus consolidates its sports model, which combines the competitiveness of the first team in the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola with a strong commitment to training young players. Both will have a federation registration with the club and will progressively integrate into the dynamics of the first team.

The arrival of Padrón and Reyes strengthens the presence of local talent in the highest category of Spanish women's handball. For the fans of Zonzamas, this news brings excitement, as the club continues to bet on homegrown players with international potential. Next season, the team will have the opportunity to watch these two talents grow at the Pabellón Municipal de Titerroy, their usual home.

The players will complete their training phase by training during the season with the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola team, and it is expected that they will get playing time depending on their adaptation and development. The club has not specified whether they will debut in official matches this season, but the intention is for them to gradually integrate.
