The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will install a giant screen in Plaza de la Música for the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, this Sunday, July 19 at 20:00 hours.

The capital of Gran Canaria is preparing to experience a historic event. The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through the Municipal Institute for the Promotion of Physical Activity and Sport (IMD), has announced the installation of a giant screen in Plaza de la Música – Jerónimo Saavedra to broadcast the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.

Schedule and activities before the match

The match will start at 20:00 hours (Canary time), but the festivities will begin earlier. From 18:00 hours, the fan zone will offer entertainment activities for all ages, creating a festive and participatory atmosphere. Fans will be able to enjoy music, games, and a safe environment to share the lead-up to the final.

This will be the third occasion that the City Council has set up a broadcasting space during the tournament. Previously, the quarter-finals against Belgium were followed in Don Benito square, in Schamann, and the semi-final against France in Pilar square, in Guanarteme. The initiative has received a notable response from the public, according to municipal sources.

Spain seeks the title against Argentina

The Spanish national team faces Argentina, the current leader of the FIFA ranking, in a match that promises strong emotions. Among those called up by Luis de la Fuente are two players with Canarian ties: Yeremy Pino from Las Palmas and Pedro González from Unión Deportiva Las Palmas. Both could see minutes in the final, adding extra incentive for the local fans.

Plaza de la Música, located in the heart of the capital, will become the meeting point for locals, families, and young people who want to experience the historic event together. The City Council recommends arriving early to enjoy the pre-match activities and find a good spot.

The broadcast will be free and outdoors, with security and accessibility measures for all. The IMD is confident that fans will respond as they have in previous occasions and that the final will be a celebration of sport in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
