The ninth edition of LPA Estación will be held from August 13 to 23 with 34 proposals that combine culture, heritage, gastronomy, and sports in various locations across the capital of Gran Canaria.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is preparing to experience a new edition of LPA Estación, an event that, from August 13 to 23, will offer 34 activities for residents and tourists to discover the city from new perspectives. The initiative, promoted by Turismo LPA of the City Council, aims to connect attendees with the identity, heritage, and cultural offerings of the municipality.
Routes that unveil the hidden history of the capital
The program includes thematic tours that explore historical corners. One of the routes will focus on the evolution of the neighbourhood of Guanarteme, while another will address the British influence on the architecture and customs of the city. There will also be an itinerary through the historic temples of the Vegueta district, the old town.
Literature and art come together in the route “The Women of Galdós: Voices from His Hometown”, a tribute to the female figures that populated the works of the Canarian writer. Additionally, the workshop “History in Ceramics: The Names of the Streets of Vegueta” will invite participants to capture the urban memory of the neighbourhood in clay pieces.
Music, wellness, and outdoor sports
Music will resonate in unique locations. The Cordial Galdós Jardín Hotel will host a crooner-style concert by Fasur, while the Belvedere of the Cordial Santa Ana will be the stage for a jazz session. Bolero lovers will have their meeting at the terrace of the Cordial Hotel Malteses.
For those looking to relax, the Hotel Santa Catalina will offer meditation sessions with breakfast, and the Occidental Las Palmas will conduct barre classes, a discipline that combines ballet and pilates. The more active can start surfing at Las Canteras beach, with courses adapted to all levels.
Local gastronomy and artisanal creativity
The island's flavours will take centre stage in several workshops. The LIVVO Maipez Hotel will teach how to make sourdough bread, while a wine and cheese pairing from Gran Canaria will be held on the Summum terrace. There will also be activities focused on world cuisine using local products.
Creativity will flourish with a lettering workshop at the Occidental Las Canteras and a traditional dyeing experience with cochineal at the Sercotel Canteras, allowing participants to learn about a craft technique linked to the history of the archipelago.
The Councillor for Tourism, Local Development, and City of the Sea, Pedro Quevedo, highlighted that LPA Estación “invites residents to rediscover their own city and visitors to take away a unique experience.” All activities require prior registration and have limited spaces, so early booking is recommended. The complete program will be available on the Turismo LPA website from early August.
