The Telde City Council and the El Naciente Foundation have held a meeting to finalise preparations for the Lomo Magullo festivities, which will feature the traditional Water Carrying as the central event.

The Telde City Council and the El Naciente Foundation have held a coordination meeting to finalise the last preparations for the Lomo Magullo festivities, one of the most popular celebrations in the municipality. Among the planned events, the traditional Water Carrying stands out again, a mass gathering that each edition attracts thousands of people. This event has established itself as one of the highlights of Telde's festive calendar and as a manifestation linked to the history and popular customs of the city.

Coordination between the City Council and the Foundation to ensure safety

The meeting allowed for a review of the main organisational and safety aspects of the festive programme, as well as coordination between the various municipal areas and the El Naciente Foundation. The aim, according to the local institution, is to ensure the development of festivities that are part of Telde's cultural and social calendar. The Lomo Magullo celebrations maintain a close connection with the identity of the neighbourhood and with the festive tradition of the municipality. Therefore, the organisation requires the joint participation of the local administration and the community entity that supports the programming each year.

In attendance were the mayor, Juan Antonio Peña, the councillor for Festivities, Miguel Rodríguez, and representatives from the entity responsible for organising events in honour of Our Lady of the Snows, the city's perpetual mayor. Mayor Juan Antonio Peña emphasised that the Lomo Magullo festivities are part of the cultural and sentimental heritage of the municipality. He also noted that the Telde City Council will continue to work alongside the El Naciente Foundation to ensure that the celebration proceeds safely and remains a point of reference for the neighbourhood.

These festivities are part of the cultural and sentimental heritage of Telde, and we will continue to work to ensure they are held with all guarantees, stated Mayor Juan Antonio Peña.

Recognition of community work and living tradition

The mayor also expressed gratitude for the involvement of those who altruistically collaborate in organising the festivities. This community participation, he stated, helps keep alive traditions that are part of Telde's collective identity. With this meeting, the Telde City Council strengthens coordination with the neighbourhoods and the community movement, while advancing the preservation of a celebration that continues to be one of the main cultural and popular references in the municipality.

For the residents of Lomo Magullo and the rest of Telde, these festivities are an opportunity to come together and keep traditions alive. The Water Carrying, in particular, is an event that attracts visitors from all over the island, becoming a driver of social and cultural dynamism. The City Council has reminded that special safety and mobility measures will be put in place to ensure the celebration proceeds without incidents. The specific dates for the festive programme will be announced in the coming days, although it is expected that, as usual, they will take place at the end of summer.
