The Town Hall of Telde has completed the installation of new shaded areas and furniture at the Bufadero Viewpoint, on the La Garita promenade, with an investment of €2,217.12 funded by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria.
The mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña, and the councillor for Beaches, María Calderín, visited the new shaded areas installed at the Bufadero Viewpoint, on the La Garita promenade, this Thursday. The initiative, driven by the Beaches Department, involved an investment of €2,217.12, funded by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria through the Presidency Area led by Teodoro Sosa.
The works consisted of the installation of pergolas to provide shade, as well as new benches with backs, aimed at improving the comfort and amenities of this coastal space in Telde. Given the marine exposure of the area, the project included a Construction Management and a Safety and Health Coordination, ensuring compliance with the approved technical project.
During the visit, Peña highlighted the importance of continuing to improve public spaces along the coast and thanked the collaboration between administrations. “Our coastline is one of Telde's great assets, and we must keep working to ensure that residents and visitors can enjoy it under the best conditions, with more comfortable, accessible spaces adapted to the needs of the community,” he stated.
For her part, Calderín valued the collaboration with the Cabildo and especially thanked the Neighbourhood Association Punto y Seguido for “their collaboration, involvement, and constant commitment to improving their neighbourhood.” The councillor emphasized that “the participation and contributions of residents are essential to understanding the needs of each area and advancing the improvement of our public spaces.”
The municipal official added that “the various initiatives being carried out at different points along the Telde coast aim to enhance municipal facilities for the benefit of the community and to allow them to enjoy the 16 kilometres of coastline in the municipality.”
This intervention is part of the strategy to improve and beautify the coastal infrastructure of Telde, with the aim of increasing the quality and functionality of public spaces. The Bufadero Viewpoint is one of the most visited areas in the municipality, especially due to its location on the La Garita coast.
Residents and visitors can now enjoy the new pergolas and benches, which provide a shaded resting place at a strategic point on the promenade. The initiative also aims to encourage the use of this space as a meeting and leisure area.
The Town Hall of Telde continues with its improvement plan for the coastline, which includes other initiatives at different points along the coast. Collaboration with the Cabildo of Gran Canaria has been key to funding these works, which add to other beautification and accessibility initiatives.
The councillor for Beaches reminded that the municipality has 16 kilometres of coastline, and the goal is for all sections to be in the best condition for the enjoyment of the community. The new shaded areas at the Bufadero Viewpoint are an example of how small investments can have a significant impact on the quality of life for users.
The initiative has been well received by the residents of La Garita, who had been requesting improvements at this point on the promenade for some time. The Neighbourhood Association Punto y Seguido has actively collaborated in identifying needs and channeling residents' demands.
With this intervention, Telde takes another step in enhancing its coastline, one of the main tourist and leisure attractions in the municipality. The new pergolas and benches join other improvements made in recent months along the Telde coast.
