The State Meteorological Agency forecasts cloudy skies in the north of Tenerife with possible light drizzle during the early hours. The trade winds will blow with strong intervals in the southeast and northwest, with occasional very strong gusts.
This Monday begins in Tenerife with overcast skies in the northern slope and the possibility of some light drizzle during the early hours, especially in the northeastern midlands. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the cloudiness will give way to clear skies as the day progresses, while the rest of the island will experience mostly few clouds or clear skies.
Temperatures will hardly experience significant changes. In the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the thermometer will reach a maximum of 30 degrees, with a minimum of 23. In the midlands and summits, the atmosphere will be somewhat cooler, with lower values.
The wind will be one of the most notable phenomena of the day. The trade winds will blow with strong intervals along the southeastern coastal strip and in the extreme northwest of the island. In the southwest and northern coasts, breezes of lesser intensity will prevail. In the high altitudes of Teide, light to moderate winds from the southwest are expected.
Aemet warns that during the early hours, gusts could occasionally be very strong in exposed areas of several islands in the archipelago, so caution is recommended, especially in coastal and mountainous areas.
In the rest of the Canary Islands, the outlook is similar. In Gran Canaria, skies will be cloudy in the north below 900-1,000 meters, with the possibility of some drizzle in the midlands during the early hours and clearing during the central hours. In the south and other areas, mostly few clouds or clear skies will prevail.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will maintain mostly clear skies, although with some cloudy intervals in the north and west during the early hours and at the end of the day. The slight haze at altitude affecting these islands will tend to retreat throughout the day.
In La Gomera and La Palma, clouds are also expected on the northern and eastern slopes, with possible light drizzle in the early hours and clear skies during the day. In El Hierro, mostly few clouds will prevail, with some intervals in the north.
As for the state of the sea, the northeast wind will blow at force 4 or 5 and may locally increase to force 6 offshore in the northwest and southeast coasts. The swell will increase to a strong swell in those areas, while the background sea from the northeast will produce waves between one and two meters.
For the coming days, the trend points to a gradual stabilization, with a decrease in cloudiness and wind, although new intervals of strong trade winds in the same areas cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will remain at similar values, without abrupt changes.
