The young woman from La Garita triumphed at the final gala held in Puerto de la Cruz and becomes an ambassador for Telde and Gran Canaria at the international pageant.

The young contestant from Telde, Susana Medina, originally from the coastal neighbourhood of La Garita, has won the title of Miss Universe Spain 2026 after an exciting final gala held this past weekend in the Tenerife municipality of Puerto de la Cruz. The new Spanish beauty queen managed to convince the jury among a wide representation of candidates from across the country, thus securing a direct pass to represent Spain in the upcoming edition of the international Miss Universe pageant.

Medina's victory is a source of pride for Telde and once again places the name of the municipality on the national and international stage. The young woman, who balances her managerial role at a dental clinic with higher studies in Law, digital marketing, and web programming, now faces a new stage marked by the preparation and commitment required to represent Spain in one of the most recognised beauty pageants in the world.

Path of a versatile queen

Before achieving the national title, Medina had already been crowned Miss Las Palmas, an experience that allowed her to advance in the pageant and successfully tackle the national challenge. Her journey has been marked by discipline, perseverance, and commitment, as well as her involvement in various social initiatives.

Susana Medina is not just a pretty face. Behind the title lies a solid academic and professional background: she manages a dental clinic, studies Law, and has trained in digital marketing and web programming. A combination that reflects her commitment to developing different areas of her personal and professional life, demonstrating that beauty and intelligence can go hand in hand.

The pride of Telde and La Garita

The mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña, has publicly conveyed his congratulations to Susana Medina on behalf of the municipal corporation and all the citizens of Telde. Peña highlighted “the enormous pride that it brings to Telde to have a young woman who has achieved this important recognition” and who will now have the responsibility of representing Spain at the international Miss Universe pageant.

The mayor also emphasised “the effort, preparation, and perseverance that lie behind this achievement”, and stressed that Susana Medina “will carry the name of Telde and La Garita wherever she goes, becoming a magnificent ambassador for our city and Gran Canaria.” “From Telde, we wish her all the luck in this new stage. We are convinced that she will face this challenge with the same enthusiasm, professionalism, and determination that have allowed her to achieve this title,” the mayor added.

For the residents of La Garita, the coastal neighbourhood that saw Medina grow up, the news has been received with a mix of excitement and pride. It is not every day that a local resident becomes the most beautiful woman in Spain and prepares to conquer the world. Social media has been filled with messages of support and congratulations, and rightly so: Telde has a new ambassador and is aiming high.

The road to Miss Universe

With her proclamation as Miss Universe Spain 2026, Susana Medina now begins the journey towards the international Miss Universe pageant, where she will have the opportunity to represent Spain and carry with her the name of Telde and the Canary Islands. The date and venue for the international pageant have yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to take place at the end of this year.

Preparing for such a prestigious pageant is no easy task. Medina will need to combine her training in runway, protocol, and public speaking with personal image care, all while not neglecting her work and studies. A monumental challenge that, judging by her track record, she seems more than capable of facing.

Meanwhile, Telde is already preparing to closely follow every step of their new queen. The City Council is studying the possibility of organising an official tribute event for when Medina's schedule allows, and it would not be surprising if the name of La Garita appeared on maps around the world during the international gala. Because, as the mayor aptly puts it, Susana Medina is already a magnificent ambassador for her land, and she promises to put Telde and the Canary Islands on the map of global beauty.
