The Cabildo of La Gomera has opened the registration period for the new edition of the Insular Meeting of the Elderly, which will take place on Sunday, July 19 in Hermigua. Interested individuals can sign up through the elderly associations or by calling the phone number 629 973 273.

The Cabildo of La Gomera has reminded that registrations are still open to attend the Insular Meeting of the Elderly, an event that will bring together the elderly from the island on July 19 in the municipality of Hermigua. The day is designed as a space for coexistence, participation, and leisure for this group.

Interested individuals can formalize their registration through the elderly associations of each municipality or directly by calling the phone number 629 973 273. The island institution encourages all elderly people to join this initiative, which aims to promote active aging and socialization.

A programme full of activities

The programme for the meeting includes musical performances, comedy shows, and various activities designed for the enjoyment of attendees. Among the highlights, there will be a tribute show to Los Huaracheros, a performance by Los Sabandeños, and a tribute to the orchestras of La Gomera.

This year, the recognition will be dedicated to the role of women in the music of La Gomera, featuring Doris Cabeza, Teresa Negrín, and Marinery Hernández. It will be an emotional tribute that highlights female talent in the island's musical scene.

A boost to active aging

The Insular Meeting of the Elderly is part of the Cabildo's initiatives to promote active aging and strengthen the social participation of elderly people. The event, held each year in a different municipality, aims to create new meeting spaces and break unwanted loneliness.

For the residents of Hermigua and the rest of the island, this day represents a unique opportunity to enjoy a festive day in the company of friends and family. Attendees will be able to enjoy the performances and also meet other elderly individuals from different corners of La Gomera.

The organizers remind that it is important to register as soon as possible to facilitate logistics and ensure that all participants have an unforgettable experience. The designated phone number is 629 973 273 and it can also be managed through the elderly associations.
