The association Mental Health La Palma has received a perfect score of 10 out of 10 in digital transparency from the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands, being the highest-rated entity in the archipelago.

The association Mental Health La Palma has achieved the maximum score in digital transparency awarded by the Transparency and Access to Public Information Commissioner of the Canary Islands. The entity received a 10 out of 10 in the Excellence in Digital Transparency Award in the Canary Islands 2024, positioning it as the most transparent organization in the entire archipelago.

The award was presented last Thursday, July 23, at an event held at the Casino of Santa Cruz de La Palma. At the same event, other administrations and social entities in the Canary Islands that have demonstrated high standards of transparency and good governance were also recognized.

The perfect score acknowledges that the association makes all its institutional, organizational, economic, and daily operational information available to the public. This means that anyone can consult, without needing to request it, how each euro managed by the entity is spent.

The Transparency Commissioner is the body responsible for ensuring that administrations and entities managing public funds publish their information and are accountable to the public. For a social association like Mental Health La Palma, which manages programs with public money, transparency is a guarantee for families, administrations, and any resident who wishes to verify it.

Behind the award is nearly three decades of work. Mental Health La Palma has been serving people with mental health problems and their families on the island of La Palma for almost 30 years. The entity maintains programs for social inclusion, community care, family support, prevention, awareness, volunteering, equal opportunities, and employment. It has become the reference in the sector on the island.

The manager of the association, María de la Paz Magdalena Pérez, shared the credit among the entire team: the Board of Directors, technical and administrative staff, volunteers, and families. “Achieving the maximum score is a source of pride, but also a responsibility that drives us to continue working with the same rigor and closeness,” she stated.

For users and families in La Palma, this recognition serves as a guarantee that the association manages resources with total transparency. The entity, which serves a particularly vulnerable group, thus reinforces the trust of the La Palma society in its work.

The award also highlights the work of social entities in the Canary Islands, which often operate with limited resources but demonstrate exemplary commitment to accountability. Mental Health La Palma becomes a model to follow for other organizations in the archipelago.
