La Palma faces a change in weather trends this Monday. The anticyclone that has dominated the weekend begins to weaken, resulting in a day of contrasts between the western side and the rest of the island. According to the forecast from Meteo Isla Bonita, the northeast wind will lose intensity throughout the day, shifting from moderate in the morning to light or very light by the afternoon. This reduced ventilation will favour a thermal rise in the west, where the thermometer could reach 32 degrees in the Valle de Aridane.
The morning starts with low clouds clinging to the coast and the midlands of the north and east, with some very light and residual drizzle in the extreme northeast that will dissipate as soon as the sun comes out. By noon, the cloud cover will begin to break, opening up wide clearings, making for a more pleasant afternoon. In the west and on the summits, the skies will remain clear throughout the day, with high solar radiation in the afternoon.
Areas of the island
In the north, which includes municipalities such as Barlovento, San Andrés and Sauces, Puntallana, Garafía and Puntagorda, the morning will be cool under the retained cloud cover. Maximum temperatures will range between 23 and 25 degrees, with a gentle recovery in the afternoon as the wind eases. Rainfall will be virtually non-existent.
In the east, where Santa Cruz de La Palma, Breña Alta, Breña Baja and Villa de Mazo are located, the day will start cloudy with very light drizzle at dawn. From noon onwards, clearings will open up and the atmosphere will become more pleasant. Maximum temperatures will also be between 23 and 25 degrees, with residual rain limited to the morning.
The west, which includes Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso, Tazacorte, Tijarafe and Fuencaliente, will be the hottest area. With sun from start to finish and a dry atmosphere, maximum temperatures will quickly rise in the afternoon, reaching between 30 and 32 degrees in the Valle de Aridane and the western midlands. The lack of ventilation will contribute to this thermal increase.
Sea conditions
The sea is also experiencing a notable improvement, especially on the east coast. The morning swell will subside as the wind dies down, and the eastern coastline will transition to a slight swell by the end of the afternoon. On the west coast, the sea will remain calm throughout the day, with ideal conditions for swimming and water activities.
