The Popular Party of La Palma held a meeting with representatives of the Venezuelan community on the island to gain firsthand insight into the situation of families affected by the tragedy in Venezuela. The meeting, held this week, was attended by the island president of the PP, Mariano Hernández Zapata, and other members of the local leadership, along with representatives from the Salto Ángel Sociocultural Association and the Venezuelan Home in La Palma.
Coordination with associations of Canarians in Venezuela
During the meeting, the situation of numerous families was discussed, many of whom have relatives directly affected by the disaster. Possible avenues for collaboration from La Palma to channel the citizens' solidarity were also analyzed. The PP reminds that the Government of the Canary Islands has reported that institutional aid will be organized through the associations of Canarians present in Venezuela, aiming for resources to reach the victims effectively.
For its part, the Popular Party of the Canary Islands has launched a solidarity campaign through Caritas. Those interested in collaborating can contact the party's offices or the parishes on the island for information on how to make donations.
Commitment to ongoing communication with the Venezuelan community
Mariano Hernández Zapata conveyed the commitment of the PP of La Palma to maintain continuous communication with the Venezuelan community on the island, listening to their needs and collaborating on all initiatives that contribute to supporting affected families. "We are here to help and to coordinate the solidarity of the people of La Palma with those who need it most," stated the island president.
The Venezuelan community in La Palma, made up of several hundred people, has shown great concern for the situation of their relatives and friends in Venezuela. Many have lost their homes or have loved ones who are missing. The meeting with the PP aims to establish a direct communication channel so that needs reach the authorities and aid is distributed efficiently.
The Popular Party of La Palma commits to periodically inform the Venezuelan community about the progress in collecting funds and materials, and to keep open lines of contact for anyone to raise their questions or request assistance. The next meeting is scheduled for two weeks from now, with the aim of following up on the actions taken.
