The Department of Social Welfare has awarded a contract for support in inspecting SAAD centres and has tendered another to supervise the quality of services such as home assistance and telecare.
The Government of the Canary Islands has launched two new initiatives to strengthen quality control of services within the System for Autonomy and Dependency Care (SAAD). The Department of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families has awarded a contract to support the inspection activities of the centres and has tendered another to supervise the quality of the services received by dependent individuals on the islands.
The first contract, awarded to the company Creatividad y Tecnología, S.A., amounts to €144,450 (including IGIC) and will enhance the inspection activities regarding the centres and resources of the dependency system. The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Francis Candil, explained that this service will facilitate the verification of compliance with regulations, quality standards, and the conditions for providing services aimed at individuals in a state of dependency.
On the other hand, the Department has allocated nearly €300,000 to develop, over the next two years, a service for assistance and support in quality control of home assistance services, promotion of personal autonomy, and telecare, as well as the economic benefits linked to the service (PEVS). The General Director of Dependency, Concepción Ramírez, stated that the goal is to have a monitoring system that allows for continuous evaluation of the quality of services funded by the Autonomous Community, ensuring they meet established requirements and respond to the needs of users.
These contracts will enhance the technical capacity of the Administration to conduct inspections, evaluate the functioning of resources, and ensure that the centres and services of the SAAD maintain the quality levels required by regulations. In this way, it contributes to protecting the rights of users and consolidating a more efficient, transparent, and continuously improving care system.
The strengthening of inspection and quality control adds to the measures promoted during the current legislative term to streamline dependency management, improve processing times, and ensure increasingly effective care for dependent individuals and their families in the Canary Islands.
The new contracts represent a step forward in strengthening the public dependency system, incorporating tools that enhance the capacity for supervision, evaluation, and monitoring of resources funded by the Administration. The Department of Social Welfare continues to advance its commitment to quality and transparency in dependency care.
