CD Tenerife announced on Saturday the signing of Argentine Mauro Pittón, a 30-year-old defensive midfielder who arrives after fifteen seasons in his country. He is the eighth reinforcement for the Tenerife club ahead of the season.

CD Tenerife has finalised its eighth signing for the upcoming campaign. This is Mauro Pittón, a 30-year-old Argentine defensive midfielder who lands on the Island with the mission of adding strength and judgement to the blanquiazul midfield.

An experienced captain in Argentina

Pittón arrives after having played 320 matches at the top level of Argentine football, defending the shirts of Unión Santa Fe, San Lorenzo, Vélez Sarsfield, Arsenal de Sarandí, and Central Córdoba. At Unión, he was also one of the captains during the last seasons.

As highlighted by the club in its official statement, the player has taken on a leadership role both on and off the pitch. His character and experience will be key for a dressing room that seeks to establish itself in LaLiga Hypermotion.

A tactical profile that fits

Tenerife has defined Pittón as a versatile defensive midfielder, with tactical intelligence and the ability to read the game. The club emphasises his balance between off-the-ball work and game construction.

“He has good judgement in distribution, a solid first pass, and the ability to maintain the flow of play,” the club states. They also highlight his intensity, his effectiveness in recovery, and his defensive sacrifice, qualities that make him a reliable player for the midfield.

First European experience

For Pittón, this will be his first adventure outside Argentina. After fifteen seasons in his country, the player faces the challenge of adapting to European football with CD Tenerife. The club is confident that his competitive personality will help him make a successful transition.

Tenerife fans will soon be able to see him on the pitch at Heliodoro Rodríguez López, where he is expected to bring stability, balance, and presence to the midfield, as concluded by CD Tenerife in their official note.

With Pittón, the blanquiazul team now has eight new faces for the upcoming season. The transfer market remains open, and the club does not rule out further signings before the deadline.
