The plaza of El Médano will host a new edition of 'Move-T for Health' this Saturday, July 18, with free activities from 10:00 to 13:00.
The plaza of El Médano, on the coast of Granadilla de Abona, will transform this Saturday, July 18, into a large outdoor stage dedicated to wellness. The initiative, driven by the Health Promotion area of the City Council in collaboration with the Red Cross, will offer a morning of zumba, dance, and workshops for all ages free of charge. The aim is clear: to promote healthy lifestyle habits and disease prevention among the public.
Zumba and Dance as Main Attractions
The day will kick off at 10:00 with a zumba session led by instructors Patricia Chiquiar and Jonathan Grajales. This activity, designed to burn calories while dancing, is one of the most anticipated by regular attendees. Following this, the Blu Dance Academy, based in San Isidro, will present a performance featuring classical, contemporary, jazz, and flamenco dance. This year, the academy has achieved a significant milestone: several of its students have been awarded scholarships to participate in the prestigious ViveroneStage in Italy, highlighting the quality of the training they provide.
Workshops and Prevention for All Ages
The programme is complemented by various workshops focused on promoting health and wellness. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn relaxation techniques, nutrition tips, or stretching exercises, all in a fun and family-friendly environment. The Councillor for Health Promotion, Cande Chinea Niebla, has emphasized that this initiative "aims to provide citizens with tools and resources that encourage a more active and healthy life." The councillor has encouraged residents and visitors to participate in a day "designed for family enjoyment while acquiring beneficial health habits."
A Meeting Space for the Community
The event, which will run until 13:00, is conceived as an intergenerational meeting point. The City Council emphasizes that the activity is free and does not require prior registration. For residents of Granadilla de Abona and nearby municipalities, it represents an opportunity to break from routine, meet new people, and discover resources to care for their health at no cost. Furthermore, the location in the plaza of El Médano, facing the sea, adds a scenic appeal that invites people to spend the morning outdoors.
