The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced an enhancement of the night bus service to Igueste de San Andrés due to the patronal festivities. This measure will be implemented this Saturday and on the upcoming 11th of July.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Mobility and Universal Accessibility department, has launched a special public transport operation for the patronal festivities of Igueste de San Andrés. The initiative, coordinated with Titsa, includes extraordinary services on line 945 (Intercambiador–Igueste de San Andrés) during two key nights: this Saturday, 4th of July, and on 11th of July.

Two minibuses to ensure mobility in Anaga

The special service includes a departure from the Intercambiador de Santa Cruz at 22:30 heading to Igueste de San Andrés, and a return from this coastal area at 04:30 back to the capital. Two 7.8-metre minibuses, each with a capacity for 26 passengers, will be used, a choice designed to navigate the narrow access roads to the Anaga coastline.

The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted that this measure responds to the municipal commitment to improve public transport. "We continue to introduce improvements in public transport that benefit all residents of the municipality, in this case facilitating mobility to Igueste de San Andrés through an enhancement of the bus service," he stated.

We continue to introduce improvements in public transport that benefit all residents of the municipality, in this case facilitating mobility to Igueste de San Andrés through an enhancement of the bus service.

A boost to public transport during festive events

The councillor for Mobility and Universal Accessibility, Evelyn Alonso, emphasized that such enhancements will continue to be implemented at various times throughout the year to encourage the use of collective transport, especially during events with large crowds. "We want residents to have safe and comfortable alternatives to enjoy the festivities without having to resort to private vehicles," she noted.

For residents of Igueste de San Andrés, a coastal area of the Anaga massif, this measure represents logistical relief. During the festivities and scheduled events, parking is limited and access roads are winding. With the enhancement, it is expected to reduce congestion and improve road safety.

Two nights of extraordinary service

The operation will be activated on two days: this Saturday and the upcoming 11th of July, coinciding with the nights of highest festive activity. The schedules are the same on both occasions: departure from the Intercambiador at 22:30 and return from Igueste at 04:30. The City Council recommends checking the usual schedules of line 945 to combine with the regular services.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the City Council to promote sustainable mobility in the municipality. In recent months, similar improvements have been implemented in other areas such as La Gallega or El Sobradillo, although this is the first time a specific night enhancement has been applied for the festivities of Igueste de San Andrés.

Residents wishing to use the special service do not need prior reservation; it is sufficient to go to the usual stops. The ticket costs the same as the regular fare for line 945, and can be paid with a Ten+ card or in cash. An opportunity to enjoy the festivities without worrying about the car.
