The General Directorate of Blood Donation of the SCS reminds the need to donate blood at least twice a year and announces a wide network of mobile units in Tenerife, Gran Canaria and other islands to facilitate donations during the summer.
The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) has launched a special blood donation operation for the coming weeks, aiming to maintain the reserves of blood products at an optimal level during the summer season. The initiative includes 15 mobile points that will travel to different municipalities across the archipelago, in addition to the existing fixed centres.
Blood and its components cannot be artificially manufactured, so voluntary and regular donation remains the only way to ensure supply in hospitals. Each donation can save or improve the lives of several people, especially in surgical interventions, cancer treatments, transplants, and emergencies.
