The Cabildo de Fuerteventura has begun designing the fifth edition of the Summer University of Fuerteventura (UVF), which will take place from June 21 to 25, 2027 and will be dedicated to disability and functional diversity. The island's Councillor for Education and Youth, Adargoma Hernández, has already held meetings with four entities in the sector on the island to outline the programme's content.
Under the title 'Capabilities and Coexistence', UVF 2027 will bring together around twenty specialists from fields such as education, social inclusion, health, accessibility, innovation, and the rights of people with disabilities. The aim is to provide a multidisciplinary approach that allows for the analysis of this group's reality from different perspectives.
Councillor Adargoma Hernández met with representatives from the associations Adivia, Funteac, Asomasamen, and Adisfuer, all based in Fuerteventura, to gather proposals on potential speakers and thematic lines. These entities work directly with people with disabilities on the island, so their contribution is key to ensuring the programme meets the real needs of the territory.
The UVF has established itself as a forum for debate and reflection on current issues. The 2026 edition, held from June 22 to 26 at the Insular Youth Centre in Puerto del Rosario, focused on misinformation and fake news, and featured prominent experts from the academic and social fields. The new edition maintains this philosophy of addressing a socially relevant issue each year.
