The second edition of the Javi Beirán Academy kicks off in Fuerteventura with the participation of basketball stars such as Lolo Calín and Víctor Claver. The camp, which takes place from July 3 to 8 in Tuineje, aims to train young talents aged between 13 and 18 years.

The second edition of the Javi Beirán Academy began this week in Fuerteventura with a top-notch lineup. The high-performance camp, held at Playitas Resort and in the pavilions of Tuineje, brings together leading figures from national and international basketball. The initiative, supported by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Town Hall of Tuineje, aims to establish the island as a benchmark in grassroots training.

An Elite Technical Team for Young Talents

The technical direction of the camp is in the hands of Isidoro 'Lolo' Calín, assistant coach of Real Madrid, whose accolades include three Euroleagues, five ACB Leagues, five King's Cups, and seven Supercups. Alongside him are former player and world champion Javier Beirán, the project promoter, and Víctor Claver, who has experience in the NBA and the Spanish national team.

The camp is aimed at young people aged 13 to 18 years and offers specialized training sessions. Activities are distributed between the Municipal Pavilion of Gran Tarajal and the Pavilion of IES Vigán, as well as the facilities of Playitas Resort. Participants receive technical training and also work on values such as effort and teamwork.

Sport as a Driver for Promoting Fuerteventura

The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, highlighted the importance of the academy for the island. “It is a source of pride that Fuerteventura once again hosts a sports initiative of this level, bringing together great basketball figures and offering our youth the opportunity to learn from professionals,” she stated.

“It is a source of pride that Fuerteventura once again hosts a sports initiative of this level, bringing together great basketball figures and offering our youth the opportunity to learn from professionals.”

García emphasized that the academy also allows participants to discover the island's attractions, turning sport into a tool to project Fuerteventura as a tourist and sports destination. Meanwhile, the Sports Councillor, Luis González, pointed out that the initiative “represents a great opportunity for basketball in Fuerteventura, as it brings specialized training closer to our youth and increasingly integrates the island's clubs and coaches.”

“Many boys and girls have the opportunity to share experiences with role models in this sport without leaving Fuerteventura.”

A Commitment to Quality and Growth

Javier Beirán expressed his satisfaction with the consolidation of the project and assured that “this second edition takes a further step in quality, with a great technical team and the inclusion of Víctor Claver.” The former international player added that the intention is “to continue growing and for the academy to keep being held in Fuerteventura.”

The academy takes place from July 3 to 8 and, in addition to training sessions, includes complementary activities such as talks and social events. The young participants come from various parts of the Canary Islands and also from the mainland, reinforcing the national character of the camp.

For basketball fans on the island, the presence of figures like Lolo Calín and Víctor Claver represents a unique opportunity to see top-level professionals in action. The camp not only trains players but also integrates local coaches, who participate in the sessions and share experiences with the invited coaches.

The organization expects the academy to continue growing in future editions, aiming to become a benchmark for grassroots basketball in the Canary Islands. For now, the young participants are already enjoying an experience that combines sport, learning, and camaraderie in a privileged environment like Fuerteventura.
