The café Momentos Brunch & Coffee, located on Avenida Escaleritas in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has added a Korean-style sandwich to its offerings. The establishment, which opened a year and a half ago, is also preparing its first Coffee Party with live music.

Mónica Umpiérrez, the owner of Momentos Brunch & Coffee, was clear from the beginning: she wanted a space where people could sit, breathe, and enjoy food without rushing. Located at number 141 on Avenida Escaleritas, this family café has just taken another step in its short but intense journey: incorporating a Korean-style sandwich that is already starting to win over palates.

The new dish, which has only been on the menu for two weeks, joins a culinary proposal that already included sourdough toasts, cruapanes, and homemade cheesecakes. The Korean sandwich is made with pulled pork, barbecue sauce, and a special orange sauce, as explained by the owner.

A family business that bets on quality

Behind Momentos Brunch & Coffee is a story of shared effort. Mónica's father, Juan, completely renovated the venue; her brother Jesús contributes culinary ideas; and her mother, Paqui, is responsible for the cheesecakes that change every week. "Nutella, pistachio, kinder bueno, fig cookie, lotus, pink panther, fruits… We vary according to what comes to mind and also accept requests," details Mónica.

The result is a savoury menu where cruapanes (little bags of croissant dough with various fillings), sourdough toasts, burgers, chapatines, and sandwiches stand out. All made with sourdough bread and designed to be enjoyed at leisure.

The Korean sandwich that is already a hit in Escaleritas

The new sandwich, named broflow in its chicken version, now has a Korean sibling that is generating excitement. "Many people come asking for them. We've only had them for a short time, but I think they will be quite successful," says Mónica. The secret lies in the combination of pulled pork with barbecue sauce and a special orange sauce that gives it a unique touch.

For the residents of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, this addition means one more option to break the gastronomic routine without leaving the neighbourhood. The café, which opens from Monday to Saturday, has become a meeting point for those looking for a different breakfast or lunch.

Live music and cheesecakes that change every week

But the news doesn't end here. Momentos Brunch & Coffee is preparing its first Coffee Party with live music, an event that promises to give the venue a new boost. "It's a dream come true. I've always wanted to have a café where you can come and enjoy the moment, pun intended. There are girls who come here with their book, stay for a while, and have their matcha or coffee. It's not a café to rush through," emphasizes Mónica.

The cheesecakes remain the star attraction. With flavours that rotate weekly and the possibility of accepting requests, customers always have an incentive to return. The next time you pass by Escaleritas, the Korean sandwich might be the perfect reason to stop by.
