The Granca Live Fest 2026, held from July 2 to 5 at the Gran Canaria Stadium, gathered nearly 100,000 spectators without serious incidents, according to the National Police.
The special security measures deployed for the Granca Live Fest 2026, which took place between July 2 and 5 at the Gran Canaria Stadium, concluded without any significant altercations reported. Close to 100,000 people attended the four days of the festival, considered one of the largest musical events in the Canary Islands.
The National Police reported that the coordination of the operation was conducted from the UCO Room, in constant communication with police units, health services, the Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, private security, and other involved agencies. This structure allowed for a quick response to incidents that arose during the event.
A preventive operation with response capability
The operation included members of the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) and the Operational Response Group (GOR) of the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade. Their preventive presence, according to the Police, was key to maintaining adequate security control both inside the venue and in its surroundings.
During the festival, officers identified several individuals, carried out various police interventions, and issued several reports for possession of narcotic substances. A complaint was also filed for an infraction related to weapons, although it was not of significant consequence.
Additionally, the police action allowed for the recovery of several lost bags and wallets containing documentation, money, and personal effects. All were returned to their rightful owners on-site, a detail that attendees appreciated.
Healthcare and emergency coordination
Simultaneously, the UCO Room coordinated the response to various health incidents. Among them were several cases of heatstroke and fainting caused by high temperatures, something common at large outdoor events during the Canary summer.
There were also reports of alcohol intoxications in the last hours of each day, some cases of choking, and a work-related accident involving a venue worker. The latter had to be evacuated to a hospital after being injured by the fall of a heavy object. The rapid mobilization of health resources minimized the impact of these incidents.
Positive assessment and normal atmosphere
The National Police has given a very positive assessment of the operation's outcome, highlighting the prior planning, coordination between different administrations, and the professionalism of all deployed personnel. All of this allowed the Granca Live Fest 2026 to take place in an atmosphere of safety, coexistence, and normality for the thousands of attendees.
For the residents of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, this outcome is a relief: the festival, which gathers tens of thousands of people in the Gran Canaria Stadium area, could have caused disturbances or risks, but the organization and security forces ensured everything went smoothly. Those who attended were able to enjoy the music without worries, and those who did not at least did not have to lament serious incidents in their city.
The Granca Live Fest 2026 is now history, and the overall feeling is that this year's edition has been a success in terms of security. The organizers are already looking towards 2027, confident that the coordination model between administrations works.
