Lucía Rodríguez, Silvia Bosch and Gabriela Paun, all from Gran Canaria, will play in the final draw of the international ITF W15 tournament held at the Gran Canaria Tennis & Pádel Center.
The ITF W15 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria now has its local representatives in the final draw. Three Gran Canarian tennis players, Lucía Rodríguez, Silvia Bosch, and Gabriela Paun, secured their places in the decisive phase of the tournament on Wednesday, which is taking place at the Gran Canaria Tennis & Pádel Center.
Rodríguez Dominates in Qualifying
The Gran Canarian Lucía Rodríguez was the first to secure her ticket. In the third and final round of the qualifying phase, she won decisively with a score of 6-2 and 6-0 against Olga Fernández Sancho. A match without history that demonstrates the good form of the local player.
Rodríguez thus joins Silvia Bosch and Gabriela Paun, who had already secured their spots and will make their debut this Thursday. Bosch will face the Valencian Yaiza Bordería, while Paun will take on the Madrilenian Carlota Corte. Two matches that promise strong emotions for the Canarian audience.
First Round of the Final Draw
Simultaneously with the qualifying rounds, the first four matches of the final draw have already taken place. The winners were the Spaniard Teixidó García, the Russian Shkutova, the American Lam, and the Slovak Novak. A very high level that demonstrates the international projection of the tournament.
The sports director, Susana Sananes, highlighted the growth of the event. "Every year we see the enormous growth of the tournament, both in terms of the quality of the players and the interest it generates among young talents. For the Canarian tennis players, it also represents a unique opportunity to compete at home," she assured.

No Luck in Doubles
Not everything was joyful for the local representation. In the doubles category, the Canarian pair formed by Adriana Calvo and Sofía Monzó lost to the Italian Cirpanli and the Spanish Donoso in two sets. Marta Gayoso – who partnered with Andrea Palazón – and Irene Vigara, who along with Carlota Vila lost to the Swiss Anais Gabriel and the British Freeya Peet, also could not advance.
The tournament, which brings together players from over twenty countries, is consolidating as a showcase for international women's tennis and a key event for Canarian talents. The final phase will continue until Sunday, with free entry for the public at the Gran Canaria Tennis & Pádel Center.
