The Gran Canaria Tennis & Pádel Center in Tamaraceite has hosted the official presentation of the II ITF W15 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, an international women's tennis tournament that counts towards the WTA ranking and will be held from July 20 to 26. The competition will bring together players from over twenty countries, solidifying the island's status as a reference point for women's tennis.

The Sports Councillor of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Aridany Romero, highlighted during the event the institution's backing for such initiatives. “For the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, it is a pleasure to continue supporting international competitions that position the island as a reference destination for sport,” he stated. Romero emphasized that the tournament not only attracts international talent but also creates opportunities for local athletes and promotes equality of opportunity through sport.
Meanwhile, the sports director of the Canary Islands Tennis Federation, Rayco Sánchez, underscored the importance of having an ITF event in the Canary Islands. “It allows our players to gain experience and compete at home against high-level opponents,” he explained. Sánchez added that the tournament serves as a showcase for Canary Islands tennis and a stimulus for new generations.

The Gran Canaria tennis player Silvia Bosch, one of the Canary players participating in this second edition, expressed her excitement about competing in front of her home crowd. “It’s always special to compete at home. Having the opportunity to play an international tournament in Gran Canaria is an extra motivation and a great opportunity to continue growing as an athlete,” Bosch declared, hoping to deliver her best performance with the added incentive of being close to home.
The sports director of the championship, Susan Sananes, highlighted the growth of the event compared to the first edition. “This second edition is the result of the work done throughout the year. Our goal is to offer a top-level competition for both players and the public, consolidating Gran Canaria within the international ITF calendar,” she noted.

The II ITF W15 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will be played on clay at the Gran Canaria Tennis & Pádel Center. The competition is organised by CD Costa Arenas, with sponsorship from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, through the Insular Sports Institute, and the City Council of Las Palmas, through the Municipal Sports Institute, along with the collaboration of the Canary Islands Tennis Federation.
