The Canary brand repeats its summer initiative with 16 finalist municipalities, including La Laguna, La Orotava, and Puerto de la Cruz. The winner will be announced at the end of August.

The Canary Brewing Company has launched the second edition of the 'Dorada Village of the Summer' contest, an initiative aimed at recognising local pride and the essence of life in the villages of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Following last year's success, which crowned Garachico as the first winner, the brand invites Canarians to vote for their favourite municipality once again.

Sixteen finalists from the province

The municipalities competing for the title this 2026 are the 16 that received the most support in the previous edition: La Laguna, La Orotava, Puerto de la Cruz, Güímar, Los Realejos, Candelaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, El Médano, El Sauzal, Costa Adeje, Icod de los Vinos, La Matanza, Los Llanos de Aridane, San Sebastián de La Gomera, La Frontera, and Valverde. The list includes coastal hubs as well as midland villages, reflecting the geographical and cultural diversity of the province.

Voting takes place through Dorada's Instagram profile (@cervezadorada), where users can show their support throughout the summer. The campaign will be active until the end of August, when the winner will be announced. Last year, over 71,000 votes were cast and more than 4,000 comments were shared on social media, demonstrating community involvement.

A tribute to village life

The initiative aims not only to find a winner but also to highlight the everyday moments that make summer special in the Canaries: leisurely conversations, gatherings in the square, festive nights, and Dorada kiosks, which the brand defines as spontaneous meeting points. “Village life is the backdrop for many of the moments we remember forever,” stated the CEO of the Canary Brewing Company, Roberto Martínez de Bustos.

The executive added that with this campaign, they want to give people the opportunity to express pride in the place they call home. Last year's response, with Garachico as the winner, turned the campaign into a symbol of local pride and a shared celebration of the Canarian way of life.

For residents of the finalist municipalities, the contest provides an extra incentive to promote their villages and attract visitors. In the previous edition, Garachico experienced a notable increase in tourism during the summer, according to sources from the town hall. This year, towns like El Médano and Costa Adeje are starting as favourites, but competition is expected to be fierce.

Dorada aims to establish this tribute as an annual tradition of the Canarian summer, strengthening the emotional bond between the brand, the villages, and the people who bring them to life. The company, which produces brands like Dorada, Tropical, and Stella Artois, generates around 14,000 jobs in the islands and prioritises local sourcing.

Those interested in participating can vote via Instagram until the end of August. The winner will be revealed in the last weeks of summer, and it is expected that the celebration will include special events in the chosen municipality. In the meantime, Canarians can start campaigning for their favourite village.
