Writer and editor Victoriano Santana Sanjurjo has donated a collection of works dedicated to Miguel de Cervantes to the Central Library of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, which includes editions from 1905 and 1978 as well as copies in English and Chinese.
The Central Library of Santa Lucía de Tirajana has received a donation of exceptional bibliographic value. Writer and editor Victoriano Santana Sanjurjo has given the institution a collection of works dedicated to Miguel de Cervantes, the result of a passion cultivated since his adolescence.
The collection includes copies of great historical value, such as editions published in 1905 and 1978, as well as English and Chinese versions of Don Quixote. These works enrich the documentary heritage of the municipality and open new possibilities for consultation and research for the residents.
The Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council has announced that it will create a Cervantes Space in the Central Library to permanently exhibit the collection. This space will be open to all users and will become a reference point for the dissemination of Cervantine literature.
The Councillor for Culture, Sergio Vega, publicly thanked Santana Sanjurjo for his generosity. “Thanks to this donation, the cultural heritage of Santa Lucía de Tirajana is enriched with a collection of extraordinary value that can be enjoyed by present and future generations,” he stated.
“From the Culture department, we are committed to creating a Cervantes Space that will allow us to preserve, value, and bring this magnificent collection closer to all citizens. We want it to be a meeting place for literature lovers and an educational tool for new generations,” said Sergio Vega.
The initiative reinforces the City Council's commitment to promoting reading and preserving bibliographic heritage. The Central Library thus consolidates itself as a vibrant space for knowledge and learning for all citizens.
Those interested in consulting the collection will be able to do so once the Cervantes Space is established, with the opening date to be announced soon. In the meantime, the Central Library continues to offer its usual catalogue of services.
