Seven fire spots remain active in the summit area of Telde, between Las Breñas and Cazadores, mobilising teams from the Emergency Consortium, Environment of the Cabildo and Local Police.
A total of seven fire spots have been active since Thursday afternoon in the summit of Telde, in the area between Las Breñas and Cazadores. The alert was received at 17:08 hours, and since then emergency teams have been working to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading.
The GC-130 road, known as the Los Pechos road, has been closed to traffic to facilitate firefighting efforts. The Cabildo of Gran Canaria has reported that emergency services are fully activated, with teams from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, personnel from the Cabildo's Environment department and agents from the Local Police of Telde.
Smoke columns are visible from various points in the municipality, causing alarm among residents. However, authorities have not yet provided official data on the affected area, the origin of the fire or whether there are homes or people at risk.
Efforts are focused on assessing the extent of the fire spots and slowing the advance of the flames. According to sources from the operation, the speed of the fire front is being considerably reduced thanks to the intervention of aerial and ground resources deployed in the area.
The outbreak is located in a summit area, between the municipalities of Telde and Valsequillo, a region of vegetation and scrub that has been subjected to high temperatures in recent days. No need for evacuations has been reported, although emergency teams remain on alert in case the fire's evolution requires it.
The GC-130 road will remain closed while firefighting efforts continue, and drivers are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. The Local Police of Telde is redirecting traffic through secondary roads.
