The Melenara Spa is back in operation from this Friday after completing its comprehensive renovation. The project, part of the renovation of the promenade, involved an investment of over €1.1 million.
The Melenara Spa, in Telde, will resume its activities this Friday after the comprehensive renovation works on its facilities have been completed. The service will return to normal and operate during its usual hours, as reported by the Telde City Council.
This action is part of the second and final phase of the Melenara promenade renovation project, an initiative driven by the Department of Roads and Works, led by Iván Sánchez. The total investment amounts to €1,128,232.35, a figure that has allowed for the transformation of one of the most emblematic spaces along the Teldense coastline.
Among the main new features is the inclusion of adapted cabins for ostomised individuals, with specific spaces in both the men's and women's restrooms. These designs aim to facilitate hygiene and improve comfort for those suffering from conditions such as Crohn's disease or cancer patients.
Additionally, the facilities now include new accessible toilets and showers, reinforcing the municipal commitment to inclusion and the removal of barriers. The Municipal Services Councillor, Juan Martel, emphasised that “the reopening of the spa means recovering an essential service for the citizens at Melenara beach,” now with completely renovated facilities.
“This action reflects the City Council's commitment to providing higher quality public services and continuing to improve the city's waterfront,” added Martel.
The project is not limited to the spa. The comprehensive renovation of the promenade also includes improvements to the promenade itself, the installation of new shaded areas, urban furniture, and more efficient lighting. The drainage system has been renewed, and bike racks have been added, along with a coastal landscaping plan.
One of the most striking actions will be the transformation of the children's park, which will feature a maritime theme centred around a pirate ship. This area will complement the advancements already completed in the first phase of the intervention.
The City Council has thanked the understanding of residents and visitors during the development of the works and has invited the public to enjoy once again a spa that becomes one of the main social and functional advancements of the promenade renovation.
