The Lomo del Cementerio neighbourhood hosts the fifth edition of the Lomo Rock Fest this Saturday, showcasing original music from the Canary Islands with seven rock, punk, and ska bands. Entry is free.
The Teldense neighbourhood of Lomo del Cementerio is set to vibrate with the fifth edition of the Lomo Rock Fest, taking place this Saturday, August 1st, from 19:00 in the local court. The festival, which began in 2022, has established itself as a must-attend event for fans of rock, punk, ska, and metal, with a clear philosophy: only original music created in the Canary Islands is played.
For nearly eight hours, the audience will enjoy performances from seven bands from the Archipelago: Enac Ska, Underground Kombustible, Subresiduos, Skachaos, Enrale (Tenerife), Revenge and Desire (Tenerife), and Los Iguales (Lanzarote). All of them represent the diversity and quality of the Canarian music scene, which the festival champions as a cultural asset.
The City Council of Telde, through the Department of Culture, collaborates in organising the event. The mayor, Juan Antonio Peña, has highlighted the importance of supporting initiatives that
“have managed to grow and consolidate by betting on the talent and musical creation of the Canary Islands.”Peña emphasised that
“Telde is a city with enormous cultural and artistic wealth, and from the City Council, we want to continue supporting and collaborating with projects that create spaces for our musicians, energise our neighbourhoods, and offer the public a diverse and quality cultural programme.”
The Councillor for Culture, Juan Martel, added that the Lomo Rock Fest
“perfectly represents that spirit, turning the Lomo del Cementerio neighbourhood into a meeting point for music and culture for one day, with a lineup that values the original creation of our Islands and demonstrates that the Canary Islands has a vibrant, diverse musical scene with a bright future.”
The festival not only offers concerts but also plays music from Canarian bands in the spaces between performances, reinforcing its commitment to local talent. Entry is free, making it accessible to all audiences and turning Lomo del Cementerio into a cultural epicentre for the day.
Five editions later, the Lomo Rock Fest has established itself as a cultural project that goes beyond a simple festival.
